I checked KDKA and the G20 website but I'm still unclear if I can make it to the airport going through downtown today. I'd be coming in 376, through the Squirrel Hill tunnel, into downtown, out Fort Pitt and out to the airport past Robinson. My alternative is to come 70 to 79 north and get off on 279 and head towards the airport that way. Any recommendations?

I was travelling opposite direction, but I believe they are expecting some random rolling road blocks in that direction on 376 when dignitaries come in? Or something like that. I'm going home that way so if you find out please post it up :)

You should be fine coming thru downtown as long as you aren't trying to use an exit/entrance ramp. Like Bo said, there may be rolling road blocks on the Parkway as the dignitaries arrive. I'm one of the 'lucky' people that had to come into work today and I actually didn't have any problems. I think there are more police in town than protestors.

My wife drives a 4x4 lifted diesel excursion with about 5 grand in performance mods on it. It is big, tall, loud, and smokes like a freight train.

She has actually had folks corner her in parking lots to "explain" to her why she is such a bad person for owning such a massive and wastefull vehicle.

I've had men complain about having my wife and 3 children drive the Excursion....

My patented reply is:
When my wife gets into a crash and calls me, my first question will be.... "Did you kill anyone?". Prey its not your family in a Honda civic that crosses into her lane.

I know that is a terrible thing to say, but I get so sick of defending our trucks to Prius driving tree huggers. If you want to drive a Civic or Prius, great! But if I choose to (and can afford to) drive the worlds largest and most powerfull SUV ever created for civilian use..... leave me be!

The Ford Excursion is the KING of all SUV's when mated to the Powerstroke diesel engine. I can tow my 10,000 lb sled pulling truck/trailer/tools while having 8 passengers inside the thing. I get 22-23 MPG on the interstate, 16 or so around town, and 14-15 towing the trailer on the interstate. Show me any other SUV/Van/truck that can go toe to toe with that, and I'll go buy it today.

Plus the security my wife and kids have while riding in a 8200 lb SUV setting 4" in the air on 35" tires with nerf bars and bull bars... short of a dump truck, bus, or tractor trailer.....she will win the battle.
