Estimate 1/4 mile time?

The cobra we recently aquired was at WolfPack and did recieve a tune (among other things) to help get it running correctly. While getting this tune on the dyno at WolfPack the car made 500HP/480TQ.

This car has a solid axle conversion and the complete hoekus-poekus suspension pack from Maximum Motorsports with the Bilstien adjustable coil over doo-dads.

So, with a set of DOT drag radials, what would be a fair expectation for a 2003 Termi/Vert Stang in the 500HP zone to be at on the track?

My hopes would be at least mid 12's or even lower 12's.... but I really never hit a drag strip in anything but a diesel 4x4. The world of fast CARS is something I have been out of for years..... Last time I was hot rodding in an American V-8 car was some time in the late 80's:)

My estimate is around 11.8 with a good driver...

a car that makes that much power should go high 10s.. my little 347 car (#3000lbs)makes 399whp on the motor and goes 10.92, and on the juice it makes 618, and has gone 9.74 wich could have been better imo..

I would say as a general term no. But, let's qualify that "no" with some information.

The car has low weight/low rolling resistance Aerospace Componants drag brakes on the front. OEM on rear.

The car has the fancy-pants tube engine cradle and tube front suspension parts, so I assume part of the concept there is to be lighter weight.

Also, I believe that I had read on this very web forum that doing a 8.8 solid rear swap was a weight savings over the OEM IRS. So that may shave a few additional lbs.

The interior and engine compartment have not been raped of weight and appear to be entirely intact.

There is a stupid-huge Interstate battery under-hood that is much larger than the battery tray and I would guess it's weight to be somewhere north of 400 lbs.... joking on the 400 lbs, but damn that battery must be for a Kennworth!

So in the end, I doubt that it is significantly lightened unless ya'all think those tube suspension parts and coil overs are a lot lighter, and the rear swap may be more valuable (refering to saving weight) than I anticipated.

Low - mid 11s with a good launch and driving. Mid or low 12s will be extremely easy with your setup. I ran an 11.9@122 with a ported blower on shitty bald Sumitomo tires.

Give ya an example: My 03 was putting approximatley 460 to the wheels (conservative tune) with the ported Eaton and i launched at 3,500rpm's and my best was 11:87 at 118mph on Nitto drags. So therefore i'm guessing you'd be in the 11:70's or somewhere in there. If you power shift you should be even less then that.

It was mentioned that this engine may have aftermarkets camshafts, valve springs, injectors and possably a MAFIA.

My goal this winter will be to discover what cam shafts are in this car, stock or otherwise. I'll throw gauges on it and roll it over and spec out the cams.
I want to discover what injectors are in it. I have no idea yet how to tell this.
And I'll decide if we need to do a camshaft swap and build a fuel system or not.

I have a fuel system for a carb application on the shelf that is based on the Aeromotive A-1000 pump, I do not think I can use that on an EFI, but maybe Aeromotive has some higher pressure EFI stuff that will squeeze out the required fuel.

I'm thinking 600 RWHP should be a nice conservative number that is not to dangerous or to expensive to get to. Please, correct me and pull me back to reality if I am misleading myself!

My car old cobra setup made 479 rwhp. With a good Ram clutch and a set of et streets, I ran multiple 11.20's and I'm not the best driver. 100% stock suspension and irs. Id say if you can drive the car, 10.80's-90's is knocking on your door. Rev her to 3800-4k rpms, drop the clutch, and shift fast

is this the cobra that was originally from WV by any chance??? if so, it used to have a kenne bell. I remember chatting with the guy @ prp a few years back and it had cams. I don't remember any specs

@ roughly #3770 it requires around 600 fwhp or roughly 505 rwhp to trap 125 mph.

Ideal e.t. for 125 trap is around 10.8 *Most* street orientated combos will perform with a greater e.t. than ideal and a well sorted combo can achieve the ideal or less than ideal.

That particular formula deals with peak power and does not take into account avg. power which can skew the relationship between power, trap speed, e.t.

I think you'd be happy with 11.xx your first time out with the car.
High power, drag radials and a stick are fun game to learn.
If you're just going to have dedicated track tires, I'd suggest a bias-ply ET Street over the DRs unless you like the challenge :)

If I remember correctly the car had some type of light weight brakes and a few other parts. So all those little things are going to help too.
