I was there one day last week. I couldn't believe how nice some of the so called clunkers where, I'd have never traded some of them in. Did you see the Jeep Comanchee pickup? When I was there someone had taken the carpet and put the seat in the bed and the rear glass was busted, other than that the truck was perfect, no rust anywhere, even the wheels where in excelent condition! The truck had to have been garage kept since new! There was a 97 T-Bird there as well that looked pretty good. I could see if they where really beat up cars, but alot of them where nice before they seized the engines.

There are more but that's all that was logged!!!
It's frickin pathetic to see the alot of the vehicles that were trashed. I'm with Lou and a few others. I wouldn't care if it didn't have a drivetrain a GNX is worth more than the clunker program. I see it as a total b.s. program and a shit way to spend goverment money. Also, what about all those newly financed cars that got the credit who really can't afford what they bought and will have that repo'd and now won't even have a "clunker" to drive.

In the end it all comes down to the fact that people need to be smart enough to think for themselves. If people are too stupid to know if the vehicle they are driving is worth more than the program gives them, they deserve to be ripped off.
As far as people getting credit approvals with sub-par credit, the have tightened up the requirements so that those folks cannot be approved as easily.

we seized 84 cars trucks and suvs the stuff turns back to a solid glass like compound when it cools. most of the cars were crap but there were alot of 5.0 fords 5.0 chevys 5.7 chevys 5.2-5.9 dodges 4.7-5.9 jeeps and a few northstar caddies .
AS far as the people with bad credit buying the cars. most of the people that bought themfrom out store had excellent credit and wont have a problem paying for them. The average term for a loan on a new car from the program was only 48 months and the average payment was 300 a month. To be honest the cars traded in were second or third vehicles that people didnt drive or used as work cars
thats sickening some of that stuff on that list! Im in need of a clunker for the winter!!! lol
