buying a used tv, need some suggestions!

Looking at used tv's and need some opinions on which way to go. I'm so out of touch with electronics right now so any help would be great!

Here are some that ive been looking at and interested in on CL. Just want something for my gameroom for hockey/football games ect. Doesn't have to be the greatest, just something reliable with a decent picture. Thanks!

Stay away from DLP's The bulbs don't last too long and they can be pricey to replace the bulbs.. Big screens Rear Projection will cost you the same amount to fix as you spent on it.. If you can find any place to do repairs on tv's at all... I just sold a 2 year old LG 50" plasma at the shop, gone over and sold it for 500 bucks.

just be careful with the plasma's they will burn images (logos in the corner of the screen) if left on too long, they also dont last as long as lcd or rear projection. I would just go to walmart and by a new lcd, they are pretty cheap for the off brand

if you wait a little bit more like 2 months... the led tvs are gonna go down a bit and the plasma and lcd tvs youve been oooooooooogling for the past few months are gonna severely drop in price. thats my suggestion... BUY NEW.

I just bought a TV for my house and did a lot of research on them.

Out of the ones you listed, I would go with the Panasonic plasma.

I just bought the new Panasonic TC-P50 S1 50" plasma. I like Plasmas a lot better then LCD's. They give you a more realistic color, have better blacks, and they have a faster refresh rate.

Like mentioned above, plasmas used to have burn in problems but have come along way and it is almost not an issue anymore. Also, if you look at the life expectancy of a plasma VS lcd, they are the same. (a half life of about 60,000 hours)

Your right stieny above. LG's plasmas are a 100,000 hours till half life.. LG is one of the 2 biggest screen makers and sell screens to a majority of them.. Lot of tv's are china junk, they got bought out buy them years ago and don't have parts to fix them.....

I will warn you, BUY FROM A PLACE THAT CAN REPAIR THEM...If you don't, good luck getting it fixed.. Ask me, I know, I sell them and take call's all day from people begging us to fix them because no one repairs them. Like I always tell them, take it back where you bought it..

    I agree with Kevin ^

I felt the plasmas were better than the LCD's as well... a couple months ago i bought a Vizio 50" plasma... the only reason i considered LCD over plasmas was because of teh amount of light that my new house will have, and i didn't want to have an issue with the reflection ... however, i don't think it'll be much of an issue, as i don't have any reflection issues now like i did with my 52" rear-projection tv

Last couple of years. Not one is really reliable more than the other.. I have more LCD in the shop than I ever have in plasmas.

    John, this is correct.

I know people that have 2-5 year old plasmas that work perfectly fine today with a great picture.

I have a 42 plasma in my bed room. Have a 47 LCD in the living room. All 5 people at my work have plasmas. I'm the only one with a LCD... You find a picture that you like, you have to watch it, not us.. Pick what you like and find a place that will take care of you after the sale.. If you do have a problem, there is no 800 number to call to find you some where to fix it... That will suck..
