well insurance company comes tommorow but just from the damage i told them they said its most likely going to be a total loss and the havnt even seen how badly the rear is pushed in. if they total it ill buy it back. save what i can and buy a roller and drop my motor and trans into. but its just what i need is more time with no car its a real pain in the ass

Buy the car back off of them. It was $500 when mmy fox was a loss, then I sold my sc and then the car for $3500. Ended up doing ok on it. I don't know how many aftermarket parts are on the car but it's just a thought..

Just went through all this bull shit when my car was vandalized just ask to talk with who ever is in charge in the total loss dept. I had to speak with 2 or 3 people but they finally got sick of me and fixed my car...I no Its a different situation with the car being wrecked and all but Its defiantly worth the shot good luck

You should probably buy the car back from the insurance company. Say they want to give you $3500 for it. Ask them how much for you to buy it back. They'll say something like $350. So they'll give you your car back plus $3150. Even if you don't fix the car, you'll probably be able to sell the parts off of it for way more than the $350 you paid for it. If you do fix it, and fix it right, I don't think the reconstructed ("R") title will hurt the value too much. I bought an '87 GT convertible from a guy who fixed it after it was totaled. I drove it for 3 years, put 25k miles on it, and sold it for just about what I paid for it. These cars are old enough now that they can't depreciate much more than they already have.

Good luck - sucks that this happened to you, but if you work this out right you could end up in better shape than just taking the full settlement and running to buy a new car.

Can you post up some photos and give us some details on your car?

i took some pics of the damage on my phone but those suck. ill get pics of it tommorow. i have pics of it on here when it was still intact but regardless i am buying it back if they total it and most likely buy a roller and swap all my stuff over. if they dont total it ill fix it up have it all painted and hopefully be good to go. but just for a reference it pushed the rear bumper support into the gas tank and broke that. just an idea how far in it actually went.

Sorry about what happened, that really sucks! Did you get your neck checked out? If not make sure you do. Back when I was twenty I rear ended a girl ( a long story but she locked her brakes up ), I ended up with whip lash and didn't have it taken care of. I had terrable headaches for about ten years untill I couldn't take it anymore. I went to a chiropracter that did ex-rays and said I was still suffering from whip lash. So if it really is bothering you have it checked out, don't do what I did I still have problems with my neck.
Hope things work out for you.

You need to get a complete physical. Not only can your spine be tweaked & out of alignment, but you can have issues later on. I was hit HARD from behind by a guy doing 35+ mph. I was stopped, 2nd in line, at the end of an on ramp waiting to merge onto a crowded highway. The guy never hit his brakes. I saw him coming down the on-ramp at me, but there was nowhere for me to go - all I did was brace myself for the impact. My neck and back bothered me, and I immediately went to a chiropractor ( for several times a week for upwards of a month ) to straighten me out. It helped a lot.

Even having seen a doctor I ran into problems. 6 months later I discovered a small hernia. This was after I had completed the settlement with the insurance company and closed my claim. I think the hernia occurred from the impact - right where the seat belt caught me low on my left side. But I can't prove that's how I got the hernia.

So, for your own good, please get checked out - as soon as possible.

Here's the thread I posted about my accident...

    Good luck buddy.
