man, bike ran good tonight in the cool air. I was having problems last year with my header connector section cracking a few times. had it welded and went with a grade 8 bolt/nut to hold it onto the engine. so far so good this year.

I got off work early the other day (around 2pm) and decided "hell, today is a nice day to get the bike out and go get some practice" so I called up a buddy and met him at a local gas station at the head of one of our favorite sets of twisties. We headed into them for about ~45 miles and then hooked up with some other riders and made a loop back. I got some great practice in and was feeling high on my horse as I split off to head home. On my trek home I got behind some traffic and was getting close to home so I calmed the 6 down and followed traffic at a calm 55mph through the winding highway. As I came around a nice set of long sweeping corners I came across a HUGE pile of gravel. It looked like a road crew just put in a new pipe and filled the hole with stone. Well, needless to say the bike started to slide out. As much as I tried, there was nothing I could do to save it so instead of risking getting pinned under it/high siding I cut my losses and bailed. (When I pulled the eject button the back end was nearly even with the front) The bike and I went down HARD. Thankfully traffic behind me stopped and traffic in the oncoming lane avoided my tumbling body as well.

I had all the fairings off because it's getting painted so damage was minimal. It still sucked though

Shorty, that sux, man! I guess it's better that it happened when you "cooled down". hitting that at triple-digit speed could have been disasterous. I almost hit a ground hog the other day. He went left, I went right. He went right, I went left. It was close. I was holding those bars tight. Believe me, he was going to DIE if he crashed me.

anybody watch the Isle of Man TT? It comes on HDTV occassionally. It starts about now. 2 weeks in June. the big boys... open class do 6 laps (36 miles per lap, I think) in about 2 hours. That's 216 miles in 2 hours or average... 108MPH. through little towns and up mountain roads. it is insane. 180mph next to a cow fence or 90mph straight throught towns next to stone walls and buildings. these guys are truly nuts...

cinemanx made a documentary about one of these fools... Guy Martin.

Sorry to hear, glad you're ok though...

I finally got my first ride of the season in last night. I have been pissin' around on both my Buell and Sporty and finally got the HD put back together. It felt good as I haven't been on a ride since last September. Its been almost 2 yrs since I've rode the Buell and now I have the itch to finish it and log some miles.

None. I stuck with the stock air cleaner so i wouldn't have to pay for the tuning. Zepkas HD wanted alil over 1k to do it, Highland was close to that. Then the Vance and Hines fuel pak is getting bad reviews and says works great at first then slowly declines. Im still looking into the power commander and another fuel pak, but i will probably just leave it the way it is. No point in throwing anymore money into a bike i will be getting rid of soon. And plus it leaves more money for the toy im getting tomorrow.

yes, I seen a few 07+ fuelie sportsters for decent prices. was thinking about getting another one. was doing the research. the fuel pak is hot and cold, can't really tell from the forums. the power commander V looks nice... comes with a pc cable and you can download more tunes and comes with a pre-set tune if you tell them what a/f-exhaust combo you got for 350+. ??? it's always something. the stealerships just want to give you the Stage I download and put 'er on the dyno to git 'er dialed in... yup like you said 500-1,000 for a bike tune? I don't freaking think so.
