Back on topic, I never understand why Yamaha calls their Sportbikes R1 and R6 and now R3. It leads you to believe that the R3 and R6 are greater machines than the R1. I know what size the engines are and all about the bikes, but my OCD self can't stand the nomenclature... The R1 should be R10 or the R6 and R3 should be R 0.6 and R 0.3.

My guess would be to differentiate it from other literbikes. using 10 and 1000 are used by others, so calling it "R1" helps make it its own.
IMO, see store for details.
