Victory makes nice bikes but just not my style ...
120R are bad azz but I think you should do lots of research! Tony's buddy had a 2010 SG with a 120R (built by Steel City HD I believe) for about a year. He traded it in on a Limited Ultra, which he put pipes, cams and a zipper. He said yes the 120R had a more top end power, bottom end/torque were similar but the overheating issues and temperamental nature of the 120R made that bike un-tourable!
If this was a bike night/show bike I would say do it but I know how much riding you do! Perhaps you should reevaluate your decision? I hear great things about 103 that are properly mapped with cams ... which would save you THOUSANDS!!!
Well..The choice as made to keep the 103 powerplant. but it will get aircleaner/cams/auto tuner by spring.. right now im working on the front end..ordered a 21" wheel for it. and going to do some other stuff to dress up the front..im adding pics

picked this bad boy up today.
2003 R1, 3,300 miles, MINT condition. only mods is fender elim. and slip on. it was the MOST beautiful day to pick a bike up, but you get a hella deal 5 days before Christmas.
I missed my litre bike on days when i would need to pull wheelies at 100+ lol
Picked up this 2000 R1 in November, I love it.
Got a great deal on it. Only 4000 miles with some mods on it. Jardine slip-on, Penske/Race Tech suspension, Woodcraft rear sets and clip ons.
Painted screen and sliders black.
Shortened the muffler 5". Installed Euro-Bikes seat cowl for now, ordering a passenger seat now. I already bought two and both times they sold me one for the wrong bike.
Bought mirrors and front turn signals.
2004 SVT Cobra - sold
2000 Yamaha R1
2006 Yamaha R1 - Raven
10.89 @ 127.6 1.61 60' with a ported Eaton
nice guys! :)
The 1998-2000 R1's make me reminisce, because that's the bike that got me into sportbikes, as before them i was strictly a motorcross fan.....
Don't think there's a thing in the world that would make me get rid of my '04 R1 ... most beautiful bike ever produced imho... and from a factory-stock standpoint, i don't think the new engines put out any more hp... though, i would be willing to bet that modified they get pretty nasty!! especially that new motor in the newer R1 ....

Damn, I thought Bish was the only other one on here with an R1.
I picked this up back in July.
In these pictures, it just had a K&N, cut down Yosh TRS slip, Matris damper, and the usual fender eliminator/flushes/windscreen/tank pad....
I got a few new things for Christmas for it....Pazzo shorties, integrated tail, graves fender eliminator, and new flushes that will all be going on this winter at some point....
A buddy and I rode out to Indy for the GP races this year and are riding back out next year. If anyone wants to ride out, let me know.
Night before we headed out....
When we got there....

That red/white combo is beautiful.
I took mine out on Sunday... couldn't resist. It was sunny, but 35*F.
Thanks. I wanted the red/white since it was only offered in '02 and seems like the hardest to find. Your combo is my second favorite on the '02/'03's...
We just went and picked up your exact bike (color and year) for my buddy with that '06 AE in the pictures for his tracker. It obviously isn't anywhere near the condition of yours since yours looks immaculate but these 20v Genesis engines do run well.
I'd love to ride mine but I cleaned it up and pulled the battery out to keep on the tender. The coldest I have ever ridden in though was on my 6R on my way into work at 4am. I passed a temperature thing and it said 15 degrees. Luckily, at the time, I only worked 5 miles from my house....the things we will put up with to ride.

I might be able to go out with you Steiny... I didn't get to ride much this year, just was wayyyy to busy.... but next year i want to make a point to ride a lot more....
let me know the dates, and hopefully i can make it work.
Also, don't they have a GP race at mid-Ohio?? that'd be a lot closer

The GP races in Indy are Aug 16-18. This year we rode out behind my dads motorhome and he was pulling a motorcycle trailer so we had plenty of supplies in case we needed anything.
The races at Mid-Ohio are AMA races, not GP. My sister and her boyfriend ride out to Mid-Ohio for a few races with their friends every year so more then likely we will being going to those as well.
The bike night they have in downtown Indy the night before the main race is reason enough to make the trip. I've never seen anything like it before. There had to be like 5000 bikes. No joke.
