I like the F4i a lot. Especially for a guy like you. It's a do-it-all machine. Personally, I like the 01-03 (I think) that has a seperate rider seat and passenger seat. The other years (like your link) have what I call a banana seat.

Honda made a silver with red stripes (I don't know what year) and I think that's the best looking one.

Do all the research you have to, Shorty, but the fact remains... for mere mortals like us, just pick your color and your price range and you will be happy. You or I won't notice the difference between 1:20 and 1:22 on the racetrack.

I was thinking the exact same thing about the banana seat lol.

and as for that specific bike, the black and yellow isn't really doing it for me but it's in my price range so i figured i'd check into it. I'd rather have the silver/red or black/red if i were to get the exact thing i want.

What are your feelings towards an 02 r6 for a guy like me? Say... this one ---> http://york.craigslist.org/mcy/1525505603.html

im 6'2 265/270 and i fit my buell like a glove haha... in all seriousness, i like the feel of it... would i want to ride it all day long...no, but i dont want to ride any kind of rocket for extended period of times. the other thing too is that you are looking at a lightning which has a more of upright riding position. in my opinion this helps us bigger guys out...

I have always loved the R6. I was looking at one when they came out in '99. I bought a CBR900 instead. I had a 600 before and wanted a bigger bike. Looking back, I kind of regret not getting the R6. It was cutting edge at the time. I think all 99-02 are basically the same with some minor tweaks. The R1 went to fi in '02 and the R6 in '03. From the few things I've read, the '03 model has a few bugs with the fi... like electrical problems and catching on fire... yeah. So stick with a good 'ole carbureted 99-02 or get a 04-05. In '06 Yamaha came out with a brand new bike and named it the R6 (?) and kept making the 04-05 model right up until now I think and they call it the R6S (?).

Got me? Great looks, great motor, great handling, light weight. I bet the Yamaha has won the supersport shootout in all the mags like 8 times out of the last ten years.

im 6'3 but only 160lbs so i couldnt tell you about the weight, but for height i have just a reg lightning and it fits me great...

Travis has the SCG so it sits lower and shorter and he doesnt look out of place on it, so even if he fits fine on the smallest version of a lightning, he would be completely ok on a red one...

The R6s is what i wanted to start on. But I can't find any in good shape and when i do they want a pretty penny...or at least prettier than mine

There is an '09 SV650 leftover a dealer up here is selling for 2k off MSRP... very tempting considering they dominate the 650cc twin class, race parts are a plenty, and insurance is also a lot cheaper than a 600 I4.

LOL... too many ideas, not enough money :(

Im in a financial situation right now where I need to be very careful about how I spend money on toys. Right now its heavy on research, short on spending cash. Thing will be better by the end of January so hopefully then I can start something serious.

GSXR's are nice bikes if I ever bought one it would be a 750 without a doubt. I used to have a 98 Gsxr 750 I liked it and I've had an older one as well from the 90's in my day. It's like the TL1000s it was/is a impressive machine for what it was. I am partial to Honda's if you can't tell by my sig. I ride a 600rr and its good enough for me. It's like Troll said. you should buy what you can afford and that appeals to you. The feeling of riding is the feeling of riding doesn't matter if its 15k machine or a 1k machine. The difference is in the vanity mostly. Get a bike and enjoy the ride.
Life is a Journey, enjoy each moment. Don't take life to seriously, none of us make it out alive anyway.
