just over 12k miles. I don't think the clutch has been replaced, it'll probably need it before too long with me learning on it. lol

Did you ever get your shop up and running?

here's a thought.... learn how to ride it the right way, and you won't be so hard on the clutch.... lol

don't take that wrong... i'm not saying that you're not going to - but i can't tell you the number of douches i see riding sportbikes that love to rev the hell outta their bike when getting its started --- or even more rice-tastic, they love to keep reving it up like they're cool --- hard to explain what i mean... they like to open and close the throttle about 400 times real quickly while trying to get going from a stop sign...

you don't have to give it a ton of throttle coming from a stop... once you get used to the cluch, you'll be able to let it out quickly with very little throttle, and end up with perfectly smooth starts every time... but at first, just give it a teeeny tiny bit... 2K rpms or something just off idle... slowly let the clutch out and you'l be fine... the obviously feed it more throttle once you're fully engaged in the gear... i feel like a real dumbass explaining it, b/c it just comes so natural to me, riding bikes since i was 12.. but for some reason, it seems to be a concept that people really struggle to grasp... lol

I'm currently going through explaining everythign about a motorcycle to my fiance, as she is going to be taking the MSF course in late march/early april so that she can get her license... I'll probably be looking for something like an older '99-'03 R6 for her to start out on.... preferrably '02-'03 so that its FI...

good luck with your bike... i've always been a Yamaha guy - you made a good choice with the R6

You might want to check the year or your specs or the seller's credibility. 2002 was carb'd. The R6 did not get FI until 2003.

That's not a bad thing, IMO. You just might want to make sure it was re-jetted with the pipe on there.

Oops, i got my years mixed up. i automatically assumed it was FI because i was under the impression they switched in '02. you're right, they went FI in '03. I just got an email from the guy with all the receipts for parts and work done to it, and it WAS jetted when the pipe went on.

As for the rice tastic revving 400 times as you pull out, i know exactly what you mean. And i definitely do NOT want to be THAT kid on my bike.
