I agree....
Learn to ride the bike for what its made for, and you'll be a lot happier .... i learned my lesson... nearly loosing my license ..... plus until you really get good at it, its really hard on the bike's suspension..... a sportbike's suspension isn't made to come crashing down outta the air like a dirtbike's....
good luck... start riding the twisties real hard, and you'll forget that your bike even wheelies at all......lol

I'm by no means a "stunna" I'm trying to be an all around rider. a little bit of wheelie/stoppie action and be able to hold my own in the twisties. As far as fork seals, L.O.L. i'm sure they'll need replaced eventually but I've only slammed the front down hard once or twice, most the time i try to power out of it and it seems to work nicely.
IMHO bikes are made for fun. I find throwing the bike into the corners equally as exhilarating as being up on one wheel given the right time/place. AKA not route 30 splitting traffic at 110 on the back wheel. Nothing wrong with pissin around on a back road with some buddies where the only person that'll be bothered if you wreck is yourself.

Picking up a canadian spec GS500 on Wednesday!
Its 95% identical to the US Spec version (only the speedo and carb jetting is different) and its an 89 so it has the clipons instead of a handlebar. Since my existing 95 GS500 is already up here (never arsed around with spending the grand to repair it and get it on the road), I have a complete spare parts bike to go with it.
Its going to be nice to get back on the road and enjoy the rest of the summer/fall season riding. I love this bike too because I can go 100km on only 4 litres of fuel (like 61MPG i think)!![]()
