went up there, the softail was very nice. they quoted me the price that was posted on the internet and offered me lower than low wholesale, trade-in for my Buell. I know that's their job. I made a counter offer that wasn't that unrealistic and I was def. willing to meet in the middle. I really thought we were going to make a deal. Guy comes back from talking to the boss and says, "No, these are the numbers". I said, "Listen, I got my title for that Buell and my checkbook. I don't need financing. I want to make this deal happen today. Can you do anything with the numbers? Will you go talk to the boss again"

He said, NO and NO. I shook his hand and said, "Sorry dude, I just can't take that much of a beating on my trade" and left.

WTF? I mean they have to have some mark-up in their bike. I didn't ask him for much. NO NO NO NO NO

Just sours my attitude towards the fooking stealerships even more. Sell private, buy private. F the Motor Co.

edit: I just sent them an email asking for the same deal I asked for in the store.

Yea its the same number adam. I was looking to do the same when i got my dporty. They wanted to give me low low low trade in for my buell, wouldnt take my dirtbike on trade and wanted the same price for an 06 with 20k miles as my 09 with 200 miles i got up z&m and z&m offered me ALOT more for my buell. Im not the only guy this happened too that i personally know. I really dont know how they sell any bikes

Apparently, that's why they had to open that 2nd store just for the 116 (as of today's count) used bikes they have.

I just can't believe they wouldn't even budge off their number. NO negotiations whatsoever!

That KTM is wicked!

not really sure what I like about that KTM. the Buell put down better numbers. however, I've ridden a DRZ400SM and it is fun as h3ll.

the DRZ weighs about 300lbs and has ~35hp.
the KTM weighs 327lbs and has ~65hp... seems like it should be waaaay more fun.

the Buell was 395lbs with 100hp (if you could find it right before redline )

the motocross handlebars and more upright seating position makes you feel like you can do anything!

I haven't had a bike since racing AMA/WERA back in the 90s. After I quit racing I never
felt "cool" about dodging idiots on the street so I sold my stuff. We used to joke around
how we felt safer on the track than we did on the street. I've got the jones lately to get
an old project for the winter. Even if it's just a garage queen.

One of my old bikes was an NSR250 with GP parts. It was gray market imported by
my friend who owned a Honda dealership and he procured a bunch of backdoor HRC
parts for it and had them imported. In race form it weighed about 270 lbs and made
88HP and reached top speeds around 160 mph on the back straight at Road Atlanta.
That was fast enough to draft pass a 600 super sport! It was mainly a corner carver,
but back in the day it played havoc on 600cc bikes it raced against.

I wish I still had this collector bike, it was so trick!

yes sir. last Thursday (off CL). I have a bet with my cousin for a bottle of The Glenlivet that I can make it a year without a bike. I might not make it a week!

that thing is sweet! there was a VFR400RR on ebay a few weeks ago. guy wanted CRAZY money for it.

the only sportbike I may be interested in is an '03-'05 R6 / '06-'09 R6S. always like that style and fairly comfy. plenty of power. actually has more torque down low than the newer R6... better for the street.

I miss the Japanese/European refinement and water-cooling. the Buell handled great, but it just had too many gremlins in the motor and fuel injection for me. I even put the damn thing all the way back to stock before I sold it and it still would cough and sputter at stoplights. coming off of a corner leaned over, I never knew if I was going to get clean acceleration or if it was going to f4rt up through the intake and I was going to fall across the centerline.

I know I don't have a title for it, but does that really decrease the value of a dirtbike that doesn't need one? I can give a notarized bill of sale... I dunno I'm just surprised no one on craigslist has even text me with some crazy offer. any incite or theories would be good!
