    Air compressor

I was looking to get a small air compressor over the winter. Just for small stuff like using an air ratchet or impact wrench and stuff like that. At Lowes thereis a six gallon 150 PSI Porter Cable for 179 bucks. Since I wont be doing anything major anytime soon with something like that, would that be good for my application?

dude, that thing will run the whole time you are using it, and it will drive you up the wall.. at the very least, sears sells a 30 gallon (i think) upright compressor for like 250-350$ and it will do pretty good, you can take at least 5 or lugs off before it kicks on.. when it comes to air compressors you get what you pay for, the compressor i have at my shop i built myself but to buy one that works as good as mine you would have to pay no less than 2500$ remember, what you are looking for is cfm@psi, like 15 cfm @ 150 PSI, that would be what the littel sears compressor would be, while my shop compressor is 28cfm@200psi, i can drive about anything with it..

do at least a 35 gallon....... 6 gallon will never shut off and wont give you any pressure to use an air ratchet/gun/etc. you would get it done faster using your fingers hahaha

I can vouch for this. Used my small pancake compressor for a few air tools. I spent more time waiting for the compressor to catch up. I could have done it faster by hand. Now I have a 60gal. Much better.
