I searched this topic as a thread title and went back four pages and didn't see anything.

I've seen tons of quantitative studies on this, not just people's opinion... Time after time, I see the best filter is the Purlator Pure One (the gold one), so that's what i use in my R1, my truck, and what i used in my Trans Am....

As far as oil, the same studies always rate Shell Rotella T Synthetic, German Castrol, and Amsoil the best oils.... I use the Rotella T in my R1, CRF450R and in the TT T/A... only problem with it is that it only comes in one weight... some people are real finicky about that, but i wanted the heavier oil in the Trans Am because of the mass amounts of heat that is created by the turbos... Plus, its far and away the cheapest compared to the other two - $20 for a 1 gallon jug in WalMart

either that or keep the same filter for a few oil changes and just run the oil through a screen and put it back in??
