smog pump help

my smog pump is making a howling noise and i need to know if its bad it throws a code at different times like sometimes after 8 miles and some times under a mile i dont know if thats the reason that the check engine light comes on any help would be great

94-95's are a pain in the a**!!! The Engine light could be on because that, they have sensors that read the smog tubes or something like that.. but i also know that every 94-95 i have seen has the ces light on... the computers are just really sensitive and pretty much come on for no reason. and especially if you have mods.

I've never had a check engine light come on for no reason in either of my 94-95's.

Get a code scanner and see what the codes are.

It could be related. Have you had the car scanned to see what codes its showing?

its showing code a theromcore bank 1 and 2 below thresh hold and a egr opeining not detected scince then i have replace the egr and the smog pump because of the damn noise it was making and i still am having the check engine

The thermactor are the tubes that run between the heads on the firewall side of the engine. There is a tube that connects them to the tube coming from the airpump to the catalytic converter. I'd inspect it for holes/leaks and try to find a way to test the little valves that are in those tubing lines below the throttle body near the strut tower.

i replaced the valves ill have to check the tubes

I'm guessing the CEL is from a bad o2 if it comes on and off like that.

yeah my egr tube was cracked and now it comes on much less but still comes on
