Wow Ed, interesting info (although about what I feared). Was the track there or was it greasy? I wonder if it didn't spin, it might have shook.

I'm pretty locked in on 26" tire too, running a 26-9 slick now, but also going to try and get a 26-11.50 QTP under there (10" wide and DOT).

Was anyone else seeing the MPH differences? Since I dropped the nose on my car this year I'm back to seeing a difference, but never that much.

That and being a few tenths slower overall. Not quite what I was trying to do.

That and a 28" tire is just friggn overkill. Was grabbing 4th gear at 1000' when shifting at 6800. I'll stick to a 26" slick even with up coming blower.

So new set of Hoosier 26x9's will be picked up and go on my 8" rims.

I will say the car seems to like the bigger injectors. From 1st clean pass to last the car picked up 4 mph in 1/8. Going 83.05, 85.85 and 87.53 on a 28'' tire. Car seemed to go faster each pass. Can't say on 1/4mph because I am seeing dramatic difference in trap speed from left to right lanes with right being slower by nearly 8mph today.
Is there any stiff sidewall slicks in the 26'' tall tires? Your car and 60fts would love them.;)

I've done back to back passes (well, make a pass, wait 30 min, then make another pass) between the lanes and have seen 4mph difference.

I believe it's not that the right lane reads slow, but the left lane is actually generous.

MT has a 26x10 stiff sidewall P/M 3053s. Think I may try these.

I know switching to a stiff sidewall slick made a huge difference in my reaction times and a little bit of improvement in 60 ft times.

Found another issue. Front brakes were all bound up. Both tires wouldn't spin more than a 1/4 turn freely. Inside pads worn more then outside ones. All pads cracked and rotors had heat stress cracks. Would explain being hard to stop at track and why my et/mph is way off.

Last year I would see a difference in the MPH from rt to Lf but with the new car I dont. This car is about a inch higher in the front so my MPH is always spot on from lane to lane as well as everyone one else that I know of.

Nice to know Mike. I think my current issues were brake related so soon as I pick up new slicks and rims. Then I can see how car is working hopefully saterday.

Had to use file on ears of brake pads to make sure they would fit and work smoothly in mounts. The inner pads were very tight going on and I could see how they were hanging up. This car is nothing but a money pit this year.

I'm sure you know they wil work, but I have my 26-9 Hoosier slicks on 15x8 wheels if you want to borrow a set to try.

I put new brakes and rotors on last April. Car rolls so much easier now. Yes it is a pesky daily driver race car and I'm - close to buying another car. Looking at a newer mustang ;)

Slicks I will head to Summit after work tommorrow and pickup a new set.

Dropped car off for inspection/emissions and course car decided to have a fit tossing all kinds of codes for misfires etc. Place was able to get a drive cycle on car and get it hooked up to machine and it passed.

Ok this car has some seriuos isues and I really give up trying to figure out. Been fighting this misfire crap for a year. Nothing mostly but the annoying check light comes on. Tried putting the new coils back on last night which didn't help with check light.

Today made trip out to Summit for new slicks and on way back getting back on Ohio Turnpike the light starts flashing and it is running like crap. I had tuner plugged in and again its showing nothing but the same misfire crap I normally see. After few miles its running better but not perfect. It just sounds off slightly.

Now I have tried removing the timing adjuster I had on car and putting pickup back in timing cover. Didn't help

Tried disconnecting my 2 step and plugging factory coil connectors back into coils. Didn't help

Tried cutting signal/power feed into my Autometer Tach adapter. Reconnecting factory wire back together to see if tach adapter was it. Didn't help.

Tried new coils of course didn't help.

Is it even possoble for the pickup sensor to even go bad being it's magnetic trigger?

How bout the wiring going to pickup sensor connector. I think it's a shielded wire? It did have a Ford tach adapter on car at one time which used pinch connectors to get signal from these shielded wires.

Also on a side note I will say these MT drag radials are god awful in the rain. Even worse then my bald BFG drag radials. Seriously WTF

Not saying this is deff. your problem but the person we bought the trick flow headed 2V from chased a miss and never found it until he pulled the motor and found some wires in the harness were damaged and causing gremlins.

Thats what I think is the issue. Normally it is random and can go days with no issues. Last 3 days its been acting up like crazy. When it's good car runs real strong so I know it's not mechanical. When it's acting up just alittle it's a noticable drop in performance.

I think with pulling heads twice in 2 weeks that moving the engine harness around a bad wire may have been made worse.

Crosses fingers.I think I got this misfire solved. Including redoing my repair to crank sensor wiring. See having a direct short to the bare uninsulated wire seems to have a way of completely cutting out the ignition between shifts and low rpm/mph. So much so to make car fairly unsafe in traffic. i over heated the heat shrink I used and had a spot of solder showing and in direct contact with the bare wire. This time I cut it all apart. Soldered it back together, heat shink connection, check heat shrink, put electrical tape over heat shrink, wrapped foil over wires and then wrapped entire loom in electrical tape. I'd like this see this pos short out now. This same place on wiring was where I had crimp T connectors. I think this was the source of the slight misfire issues.

Also put in a new Ford crank sensor in stock location. Added another ground strap from engine to frame.

Now to see how it does over next few days and hopefully make it to TnT thursday to break in new slicks.
