From Joe..
"I still have three or four pretty good size problems, that are self induced, so now the engines coming out.
Problem#1 One i forgot to install the oil resrictor, so when i made that pass the majority of the 7 quarts of oil were, along with problem#2 all over the engine bay..And yes, i thought to myself, HEY STUPID, DID YOU FORGET TO INSTALL SOMETHING?
Problem#2 This is a really dumb thing to do but the pistons are NOT gas ported, at all, but they will be. As im sure the rings couldnt do there job properly without some help..
You may ask Timmy how many rpms the computer said i turned that pass, for a 3.6 stroked crank...- Scary, even for me.
Here's the boost deal. This car hasnt ever been on the dyno. Even with the new 4276 turbo and intake tubing we just installed. I do all my tuning at the track, or just on the brake at home and when i get time and feel up to working on it. Up until now if i wanted to know how much boost i was at, id just put it up on the brake and check it that away on the secondary guage... Its kinda questionable to look over at the guages at 150 mph or so, well atleast for me.. When i ran this car last year i didnt have my sensor for dataloging the boost or intake temp.
When in the past when it said 28 psi which was kinda embarrassing to only go 8.75. i really didnt say much about it other then its making less power then my street car.... What was happening i found out yesterday is.. I had the boost set at 32psi total for the pass. I left the line at 13-14 psi, 1.4 sec. later it spiked to 32 psi then backed up to 23 psi 2.7 sec. later... I have problems!, although it explained why in the past id put it on the brake at 28 psi but it would actually run like a turd, obviously only going down the track at 19-20 psi after the spike id guess. I couldnt datalog at that point so i just thought it was staying up, but it wasnt, and i didnt know it til i got my sensors all in..
Bo and i talked about this a couple a weeks ago and never would have known this til yesterday.
Also i wondered why it ran so good to the 1/8 but really wasnt that great of a 1/4. This will get fun when we get it up to 40 psi and keep it there for a complete pass."
Here's the time slip:
R/T .063
60ft. 1.208
330ft 3.456
1/8 5.268
mph 137.60
1000ft 6.851
1/4 8.22
mph 160.59
According to National Dragster, it about right et wise but the speed is probably 7 - 12 mph slow from were id like to have seen it. It just didnt run on the second half of the track ( the boost issue, im sure),Joe

Thanks for relaying the information. Post mortems from shakedown runs are always a good read. You always learn something new.

Great looking car !!!! Great engine bay. Dave
I still have not been able to get any of the videos to play :( Talked to Curtis last night, seems like there was more wrong with that pass than was right.
FWIW, this car was mostly totaled yesterday ... I nearly cried for Joe when I got the call ...
Here is part of what he posted on TurboFord ...
First short pass of the day i figured id go out 300 feet or so and then get out og it to see how it felt... When i left the line the boost was only at about 6 pounds and gradually going up to 15 befor spiking real quick to 32...
At this point the car spun the tires at about150 feet out going wildly back and forth, trying to save the car from hitting the wall.
At about 80-100mph the car when heads on into the wall, and BARREL ROLLED down the track, I think 3 times. I am very sore, lower middle and top of my back and neck. I literally cried half the way home from the track. I will in the near future decide what i will do next. I had a goal that i had not reached so i hate to sell out and give up but my wife may not give me an option.,Joe
If ANYTHING good can come from this, I hope everyone that everyone reads that line really close, and then looks at some of their 1/8th mile MPH and then takes a good look at their safety equipment ... This was a "best of everything" chassis car and he was mostly able to walk away ...
Wow, that sucks :(
Did he have a boost controller?
Just wondering how he said boost spiked from 15 to 32psi :(.

He got the car unloaded today and the Chassis guy has had a look at it ... The good news is the Chassis is still where it is supposed to be ...
As it was ....
As it is ...
Wow - that's too bad, but at least he is ok. Talk about an awesome machine.

There have been further updates on this. The basic chassis seems okay (at least in appearance), he is going to get it on the surface plate soon and is going to rebuild it.
