    C-Clip Elims?

doing a solid swap in my cobra. I will be running mach 1 brackets so i can keep my cobra brakes and rotors.

Build will be 31spline axels, spool, and 3.73s. I know i am gonna need to run c clip eliminators but keep reading all the horror stories of how if you drive them on the street they will leak and eat bearings. Anyone have any input on that? Car will see about 3500-5000 miles a year.

Also i know i can always have 9inch housing ends welded onto my 8.8, but in that case what would i have to do for brakes, would it be possible to keep my cobra brakes and rotors yet or not.

If you are in need or want axle retention, don't waste your time or money on c-clip eliminators. 9" ends and you can run the late model disc brake kit that ford racing offers. Only hang up with that kit is there is not an OEM provision for your OEM parking brake cables.

If you don't mind spending more money and want to retain your OEM brakes and parking brake cables, there is a way. DTS makes a custom 9" end and adapter bracket, it is more expensive, the housing needs to be a specific width after the ends are welded on and you will need custom length axles...

9" ends are nice but the rear I had ate up bearings and they are a real pain to change and are expensive and will require a custom axle. C clip eliminators on the other hand I never had trouble with.A leak here and there but that was cause I smeared the rtv all over the place.LOL

IMHO I'd run an eaton posi and keep the c clips. The axle can't go anywhere anyways since the caliper holds the rotor

My issue with keeping the c clips isnt the safety factor since i agree the brakes will keep the axle there, its the track. I plan on going faster then 10.99

i too am for 9 inch ends and if you are going with a spool you might as well step up to 33 spline axles

I am probally just gonna end up with c clip elims and hope for the best really. Just hope i am one of the lucky ones. The car will definatly have a spool. I figure that way it will hold what i wanna throw at it.

I am doing a solid swap this winter with a similar setup. I'm using a fox housing, SN-95 width 31 or 33 spline axles, spool, and 3.73s.

I was also wondering about what to do with the C-Clip elims. I'm kind of confused about it. If you use 9" ends then you don't need C-Clip eliminators? The c-clip elims are $130 from Summit. How much is the total for 9" ends and install?

If I got normal c-clip axles could I install c-clip elims later? Or do you need special axles to use with c-clip elims?

nope no 9" ends needed. My blue car had 33's and a spool in it and then when I sold it to Brandon he put the stuff in the red coupe.go with 33's cause you won't ever have to worry bout breaking anything again
