I'd have to say that about what my car is and the Kirkeys arent that bad. I have the Pro-Drag seats mounted to solid mounts that dont move.

My roll bar was tight on the driver but im actually in the process of having the door bars re-done now to hug the door instead of my leg....

Something else to consider is the new tranny that Mcleod is coming out with in the spring, its the M-800 and can handle 800 rwtq and is retail priced at $2295

We have the 5R, but not the soft loc. BUT if we did any kind of serious drag racing, that would be the only clutch we would put in the car with as much power as it has. Like Joe said, clamping pressure is over-rated, you actually want just a little bit of slip when you dump the clutch at high rpm or you'll be breaking rears and tranny's more often than you want to (on a regularly raced car with a lot of power anyway). I did a ton of research before buying what we did and I ended up with a single disc mccleod for the street that seems to hold up fine. I have no doubts that it will struggle with even drag radials though. Twin discs are good on the street (and we'll probably put this in the chevelle next), but they have too much clamping force for the track, IMO. I found lots of drag racers with broken drivelines from twins. Soft loc is expensive but it's the last clutch you'll ever buy. It's completely adjustable and rebuildable too. You actually adjust the pressure plate pressure according to what you're doing - higher pressure for the street, then dial it back a little (add a little slip) for the track. Don't forget the ultra light flywheel you run with them as well. Look into buying a used one on racingjunk or something...seriously...like I said, completely rebuildable. So many pluses to them if you can handle the up front cost. Same for the trans!

If the weather warms up at all in the next week or two and you want to take a ride, let me know...it'll be a hike for you though (butler)!!

I say "stick" ! That Liberty looks to be a good deal that Lou posted a link to, as well ! I use a Ram adjustable long-style PP and iron disk, and it can be set up to grab hard or soft... hard enough to break the trans, rearend, or driveshaft or soft enough that it won't pick up the front tires at the hit. The iron disk offers a sure release, without sticking, that will also allow good shifts.

How hard is it to adjust?
Do you have a harder street setting and then a soft track setting?
Just wondering how easy they are to use, that's what Hanlon recommended to me for my car, of course after I already had a different clutch in the car.

I have a rectangular hole cut in the bottom of my McLeod scattershield, and have a nice little 1/4" ratcheting wrench that I fit a hex bit into. I put the car on ramps, adjust one of the 6 adjusters, turn the engine, do the next, etc.

I have it "tuned" to hit moderately hard with the 28x10.5x15S ET Drags (stiff side wall). It is set to about 1500 psi vs a max of 1640 psi clamping pressure. I really don't drive my car on the street a whole lot anymore, but when I do, I just drive it as is. At lower rpm's, as long as it isn't real hot, it is very streetable. On the track, it has put down 1.31 to 1.33 60 fts a very few times, but generally offers 1.35 to 1.37, in route to some 9.89 ETs at about 141 mph, at 3500 lbs. KB 2.4 blower at 25 psi (bone stock !)

I don't know Bob, but have talked with a guy from New York who had Bob install a Ram adjustable setup in his silver 03 Cobra with a built TKO. It ran 9.93s with a 2.2KB blower.

Ever consider a BBF? FRPP has a 521 c.i. that makes 580@5,750 and 600 ft.lbs.@4500. 10.0:1 c.r., mechanical roller, super cobra jet heads, etc.
