    BBK shorties install

I Finally got my neighbor to use her garage for the day to put on the headers i bought from gmslayer. Now, i have all the bolts tight and where it meets the X pipe is firmly in place. When i fire it up it sounds nice but at 3/4 throttle and WOT it cracks and sounds like i have a leak. Does anyone have a tip or know of a stupid mistake i may have made while tightening all the bolts?

does it go away when you get off the throttle and let it idle down?

i didn't go back over them after i started it, i kept thinking it was cracking where it meets the mid pipe

well def go over the bolts on the head again.. I atleast do after we install a set...
Maybe on the x-pipe you have it binded and you may have the bolts tight but if its not flush or alil off center it will not have a tight close

No problem... If you have a pair of welder gloves.. I would start it and get underneath it and if you can hear it try to move the mid pipe to see if you can get it to go away and if thats it just re aligned and tighten

A guy on another forum said the timing might have got bumped and if it's off it could be causing my popping. Is this true or is he just blowing smoke?

Headers and distributer are nowhere near each other. Unless you pulled the wires off and mixed two up. But then the car would idle like crap.

Well, when i put them back on i mixed up 5 and 6 but i fixed that as soon as it started and idled crappy. But you're sayin the timing wouldn't cause the pop? The guy says bump it up a little because of the added airflow?

Hmmm, I dont know then. I doubt you really picked up enough to cause any problems. What heads do you have? I have heard the stock "headers" are good to upper 200's.
