    Another unleaded racing fuel alternative!

You run cats on your car so you can pass emissions. You want to run some high octane but you know that 110 leaded fuel will wreak havok on your O2 sensors and cats. What do you do if you want something above and beyond Sunoco's GT104 or VP Motorsport 109 so you can really turn the boost up?

Check out this fuel I found north of the border from "Pro Racing Fuels"

    http://www.proracingfuels.com/Products.html

Here's the stats on their 114 Octane (no, thats not a typo... 114) UNLEADED fuel:

    Fuel Information:
    Specific Gravity - 0.720
    Octane - 114
    Vapour Pressure - 7
    Distillation 10% - 130
    Distillation 50% - 190
    End Point - 225
    Lead content - 0
    Colour - Purple

    Shipping Information:
    Class 3
    UN 1268
    PG II
    Pail Quality 19litres/5 gal
    Pail weight 31 lbs.
    Drum Quality 205 litres/54 gal
    Drum Weight 325 lbs.

Their FAQ explicitly states that its 100% compatible with all emissions control devices and sensors. It also can be used with nitrous or forced induction applications. They also say you can blend it with pump gas if you don't need 114 octane.

There is a place over in NJ that is a distributor:

Just thought I would put this out there for those interested if you find yourself at Atco or Englishtown this coming spring.

Might want to step back from the pump for a while ... Octane much higher than you need, will take away power. I know several 2V NA guys that are quicker / faster on good old 87-93 (favoring 87) than anything else. (Oversimplified) Octane is the measure of the resistance to detonation and that is accomplished by slowing the flame speed , slower burn equals less power if you arent squeezing the snot out of it (compression, boost pressure, etc).

dont forget to add (also oversimplified) advancing the ignition timing.

We keep simplifying, and it won't work at all ;) The point is, Race gas can hurt more than it helps if you arent making use of it for anti detonation.

Also, I just called to find out if they have somewhere in my area and it turns out there are two. Might pay to call them for all I know they have a local contact in pitt and their webpage just lists major distributor hubs.

Yep higher is not better if you do not need it. I run 87 and thats with much increased timing.

Thanks man, that is good to know.
I had a chance to get some of that MS109---it is crazy expensive and Lidio told me the FAST O2s tolerate leaded race gas very well, so I just stuck with the 110.
If this is reasonably priced and has good reviews, I may buy some.
I got me an itch for 20+ psi this year :)

the last time I bought MS109 was right when they were trying to introduce that MS109E crap (figuratively speaking... i have no feedback on the quality of the ethanol version of MS109). I believe it was right around $9.00/gal for a 5 gal pail in 2007. I can only imagine how much it is now.

If my job change goes well, I'll be able to give you some feedback on it. They also have dyno sheets on their website but Id take them with a grain of salt.
