Carburetors and SAE wrenches.................
Buy Made in the USA - It Matters.
Wow I missed a whole bunch today while I was at work. I dont know really what to say. It seems like we can keep on arguing but not get anywhere. Finally a few of you started mentioning things that atleast make sense.
Im not arguing these points because of the torque numbers my car supposedly made. I really dont care, ET is what matters to me and we won't see those till spring. Who knows it might run the same. The combo was built to run 10.90 for a specific class in the Pro-AM event, so if it runs that I will be happy. I averaged high 11.20's last year. Im arguing the fact that this so called mustang dyno is not inaccurate.
Lets start with the fact that anyone that wants to predict the numbers a car with so much missing info says alot. No one has any idea what the cam specs are or how high spinning the motor. What about the comp. ratio? I never said I was running pump gas. I gave general, basic info about the rotating assembly and the build itself. I dont want someone build my exact combo. I spent the time researching and putting it together. How about the tranny and the internals. The only thing that came from the AOD was the case LOL. Not to mention, someone finally figured out that a torque convertor is a torque multiplier and that is the main reason for the numbers. With the same AOD on a dynojet the car made 417wtq when it was running high 11's. When I decided to build my combo I wanted tq more hp because I believe the fast your get the weight moving the better the ET and tq is what is used to get the weight rolling.
Lets ask this question. There are plenty of 347's making 500+ hp and 400 tq. Now what determines the hp and tq curve? The cam specs! You should be able swap those numbers with the cam specs. What do you think they do for trucks. They put cams in the that make tons of tq for towing. hmmm...
Now what about guys that run a stocker class. They pay these engine builders uhh... $18,000 for a stock motor that make big numbers. They must know something that everyone else doesn't. They would really have this place in an up roar lol.
To say that no one should be able to post dyno numbers unless they are from a dynojet is a good one. I see what you are trying to say but it will never work. If you want exact numbers that an engine is putting out then say everyone can only post numbers from an engine dyno, no chassis dynos. There are too many things that might affect numbers on a chassis dyno, transmission, gears, tires, exhaust. Then you might as well say, no one can post ET's unless they are from PRP, considering this is a Pittsburgh site. Everyone know we can pick up 5 tenths at Cecil. My points is you cant do that.
My question is, can you alter the tq numbers only on a mustang dyno because we all agree the hp is where it should be?
Sorry for the long post and keep it coming you can't offend me. Im learning myself.
Mike like you said, the ET is all that matters

Mike, I'm not going to argue the torque number anymore. You said you'd put it on a Dynojet and take it to the track, I'll wait to see those results.
Again, as you said about this being a friendly discussion, you are correct. Definitely not trying to offend you, its a beautiful car and a very good 347 combo. I have no doubt you'll meet your ET goals. Good luck man.

BTW, I'll be using a 4R70W/AOD this year. How do you like the AOD and what's done to it? What shifter are you using? PM me if you don't want it public.

You got it buddy. Im just as curious as you guys. Ill take to a dynojet as soon as its not so messy. I have no problem taking it to wolfpack but does anyone know of one closer to Belle Vernon or Uniontown. Where is campbells run road anyways it sounds familiar.
As for the ET, hopefully Ill have some in March.

I founds the videos I took of my car that were lost in my computer. They were under pictures not videos Two of the videos are the bottom side of the car and one of the dyno pull.

Well everyone is asking the difference between mustang dyno and dyno jet so i took the time and checked it out myself. My car on the same dyno as Mikes made 188 hp 209 tq Now was on the dyno jet my sponser just put in last night and it made 188hp same and 235 in tq. Looks to me Mikes might make even more torque on the dyno jet. My combo is stock short of cai, long tubes, and custom x pipe exhaust.
89 Mustang (stock) DD
82 Trans Am (not stock)
98 Audi A4 (not so hurting)
Hmm... intersting, maybe those dynojet nuymber have been fudge to match the mustang dyno or that mustang dyno must be pretty accurate. Nah cant be it's impossible for me to make those numbers.
