Quaker now an AHRA sanctioned track?

Happened to be looking at Quakers site to see what they may have on schedule for 2010 and saw they are no longer IHRA but now AHRA. I can say I never even heard of the AHRA before

I thought I posted that here ... must of been somewhere else. From what I heard (not direct to QCR changing) is that these guys have a good package for insurance.

Interesting read. Kinda nice to see a historic organization make a comeback.

Not only do you do the burnout on a hill, the track starts going up hill from about 1000' on.

It's really weird doing a burnout there. If you are used to rolling out of the box until the tires bite, it will just sit there ... If you power up out of the box, by the time you know where you are, you are at the pre staged beam. It comes real fast as soon as you crest the hill.

I only raced there once, but will go back again this year for the UMTR race in May :D We had a blast there, they treated us excellent, and I pulled some of my best ever 60' times. Really nice pits, great staging lanes, no freaking stones, just a neat race track. It was a little hot last I was there and they opened the control tower / suites for people to go sit in the air conditioning and watch the races. My only cmplaint is when you are racing, you can't watch other cars from the staging lanes.

Heh, that fact always made me wonder how much faster my 12.5 would have been had I run at Englishtown or Atco.

I enjoyed my day there too. One of the things I remember from that place is that it didn't matter if you were running 9's or 15's the announcer found a way to talk about the matchup in an enthusiastic way that didn't sound "forced"- something I didn't hear too much at other tracks.
