i just dont think the game has changed so much to the point where every team in the NFL needs to run a west coast offense [which is what i *think* you are trying to say]. if you can design great running plays, get linemen to block, and have a very aware running back, the run will always be effective in football, no matter how much the league has changed.

running carries way less risk in turning the ball over and keeps the clock going. So IMO, that makes it essential on any type of offense or any type of team if you want an effective offesnse

I believe in a mix for sure. It never hurts to go deep to spread the d out. It just seems we can't find the happy medium where our play calls don't put us in all those 3rd and long situations. Then Ben gets all banged up.

Then the 3rd and longs and parker running up the middle. That made me want to throw the remote through the tv.

A little off topic: Watching this Arizona team, they always seem to step up their d in the playoffs, deffinitly a team to watch...

^couldnt agree more! we always get ourselves in the worst situations.

yeah the arizona game is a good one so far. great start for the cards. hopefully it stays a good game and isnt a blowout like the pats game and eagles game. those were kinda boring to watch, esp the eagles

I think I get ticked by the term "70's football" or "you father's nfl". My father's NFL ain't much different than mine...watch the game and SWEAR a lot. My dad was a Marine and had the full Marine vocabulary, I learned most of it just watching football with him.

I love having a great passing game, as long as it doesn't take away from being able to run - for ball control and clock control. Got to be a happy balance, I don't think we had it this year.

Again when you can average 3-4 yds/carry, which is so so, you don't line up in an empty set for 3 and 1 or throw a screen pass 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage. I'd also love to see us ditch Parker and find a tough MF'ng fullback. And more play action.
