    Question on Drag Radials

I was wondering if a set of drag radials would work to drive to Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach SC. I dont really want to buy two different sets of tires but will if I have too...

I have Nitto 555's on my car at all times, would drive cross country on them... I also have a set of Hoosier's and PRP is about as far as I would want to go on them...

nittos are great for daily use and get decent mileage. i have a set of 275 45 or 40 17s for sale. mickeys work better but their life is short in comparison to nittos IMO

I would NOT drive 1400 miles round trip on a M/T ET Street, or the M/T Radials. One rainstorm would be a disastor.

The Nitto Drag radials would be better suited for that type of use. Longer life w/ decent traction and much improved tolerance for wet weather.

Just watch saying "Nitto's " now days ... As Scott said, there is a new Nitto DR that looks a hell of a lot like the M/T, maybe even less water porting on the edges. Seems like this can get confusing as the old tire was a little stickier street tire, the new one looks like a treaded race tire :D

I just saw on their site that they offer a "new" drag raidal and yes it does look alot more like a M/T radial.

When i meant Nitto i meant their origional drag radial, The NT555R.

I was concerned about driving from Morgantown to PRP, about 160 mi. roundtrip, on my 555R's. I didn't know if they would hold up, or turn to jelly and wear down to nothing on a longish trip. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Youll be fine. Alot of guys run those tires on the rear of their car all the time.

Thanks. I knew that people run them on the street, but I just wanted some reassurance. The size that I got just happened to be one the more expensive ones and I don't want to needlessly wear them down.

I also have NT-555Rs I drive them everywhere in the summer all the time. They suck on wet roads but are manageable

Drove an over 1000 mile round trip on 305/35/18 555R Nitto DRs in my '04 Cobra, no problems at all. Just inflate to 30psi and don't be stupid in the rain. The Nittos are by far the best for daily driving and occassional rain.

I drove to Columbus on my Mickey Thompson's with no problems. There was no rain that weekend.
