I also have NT-555Rs I drive them everywhere in the summer all the time. They suck on wet roads but are manageable

Drove an over 1000 mile round trip on 305/35/18 555R Nitto DRs in my '04 Cobra, no problems at all. Just inflate to 30psi and don't be stupid in the rain. The Nittos are by far the best for daily driving and occassional rain.

I drove to Columbus on my Mickey Thompson's with no problems. There was no rain that weekend.

I run DR's spring to fall every year, every day. Last set of 275/50 BFG's were 3 years old and worn out(still could see tread) Even in rain I have had little issues unless it's a real good heavy rain.

Going to use a set of 275/60 Mickeys this year.

Ed - Being that we both leave about the same (slightly above idle) ... have you ever run on the DR's ??? I would love to make my car work on a DR, just don't see it happening :(

I would be real interested to see how those work for you.

Tried and failed. I have tried leaving off idle and blew them off. Never had luck with DR's and a stick. I'll give them a try and see how a taller DR works out.

Just tossing my 2 cents in...

I used BFG drag radials for 2 years, driving to and from the track, and didn't change them. For all the passes and miles, I'd say they live pretty long. They did ok in the rain, but I'm already taking it easy in the A body Cutlass. I think they would last for a 1400 round trip and more, provided you don't fry 'em every chance you get.

The MT drag radials are softer, and better for the track over the BFGs. I did run them from New Ken to Quaker when bracket finals were at Quaker, and had no issues, noticed no huge amount of wear. Just have to remember to air them up to street driving psi after running them at racing psi.

I daily drove on 255/50/16 ET Street Radials for a couple weeks, they did perfectly fine, even in the rain. But I agree they are worthless on a stick car. Best 60ft was a 1.9x on them on my '98 GT and I'd spin on the 1st - 2nd shift. I'd like to try another pair out in a bigger size if I had a new clutch, but stick cars love the bias ply slicks. Also with PRP's new management, I could probably get them to work a little bit better with the new track and all.

    With the 255/50 ET Street Radials I went from a best of 13.97 @ 97 with a 2.0x 60' to a best of 13.64 @ 97 with a 1.79 60' on the 26x10.50 ET Street slicks.
