    Remote Starters

Anybody know a good place to get a remote starter? Has anybody installed their own? If so, how long did it take and was it worth doing it yourself?

Where u from? If you live near Cranberry i send all my remote starter jobs to Rpm in Warrendale. I have put a few in myself and i dont think it is worth the time it takes compared to the cost they charge.

I live near the Waterfront. Has there been any problems with thier work?

I was quoted $589.00 for the Python 991 remote starter installed. I found them on Amazon for $202.00. That would be a $387.00 markup for profit and install. Now I was also quoted on a Audiovox remote starter installed at $264.00. I guess the difference between the two is one is a Cadillac and the other is a Yugo?

As a end result, I would like to get a good remote starter for both of my vehicles but I don't screwed in either cost or crappy install.

I have used and recommend Auto Illusions in Moon as they are close to me. They only solder all the connections, not t-tap like some places.

That being said when I sold the Silverado I removed the remote starter that I had been using (Avital 4103) and installed it in my new ride, a Trailblazer SS. I could have paid them to switch it out but I like a technical challenge so I did this install on my own. I soldered all the connections as well. I did lots of research on the12volt.com to find out which bypass module that I needed and just how to bench configure and connect the system before I ended up under the dash upside-down asking what the hell wire does what. lol

If you are anything less than absolutely confident with your skills, do not have access to a wiring manual for your vehicle, or are easily put off by some adversity, I would recommend that you pay a professional to do the install.

    Good luck!
