    60' times vs. et

I'm looking for some opinions and/or facts on this. All things being equal, it stands to reason that the lower your 60' times the lower your et. For example, if you lower your 60' time by .05 seconds, does that mean your et will drop by the same amount? Is there any direct correlation between the two or are there too many variables to be able to say "If you lower your 60' time by X, your et will drop by Y?" Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I haven't found anything on this forum about it.

I've always heard if you drop your 60 one tenth, it equals two tenth's in the quarter roughly.

Too many variables to say 100% for sure....

On my boosted car, I saw "x" reduction in the 60' = 2x reduction in ET.

On my n/a car I saw "x" reduction in the 60' = 1.5x reduction in the ET.

I agree with John, way too many variables, such as, why are you picking up in the 60'? Is it because you spun, played with tire pressure, etc?

All things being equal, if it's a straight improvement in something you changed, I think X reduction in 60' is close to 2X reduction in the 1/4 ET. This is what most of us regular bracket racers see, and we key in on consistency.

way too many variables to say for sure. most likely (as in probably 99% of the time), lower 60' times mean lower ETs. But if you car has no top end or if there is a lot of drag on your car at high speeds, you might not see much improvement at all

I have also heard that .1 60' = .2 1/4 mile. That would be badass because then my 11.6 with a 2.0 60' would be a 10.6 with a 1.50 60' which is what I'm shooting for in the summer. I highly doubt I'll run a 10.6 at my power level now but maybe a 10.8.

Thanks guys. In a nutshell, too many variables. But the consensus seems to be that there is gererally a greater payoff on the top end over what you cut off on the short end.
If I can cut a Modular Mike 60' time I could be flirting with the 12's.

What issues are you having in the 60'? Spin? Lack of sticky tires? Manaul or auto trans? Tell us what is going on, maybe we can make some suggestions to help you out.

So far, 1.93 is my best 60' time. I'm leaving at 3000 rpm's on Nitto 555r's with no wheel spin. Manual tranny. I've seen guys leave at 4500 or higher, but I really don't want to break anything if I can help it (but who does?) I have never had the car dynoed, but it's pretty much stock. Headers, off road h-pipe, flowmasters, udp's, CAI w/ 93 octane tune and an MSD two step set at 3000 launch rpm. I'm gonna start raising that a little at a time, but don't think I want to leave much higher than 4000.

...most definately need to bake the Nitto's off, for sure! I've been standing still burnoutin mine, and they got tons of tread life after two years.
