    Handguns

I've been interested in getting a Glock for a long time now...

I was wondering, for the application to carry a firearm do I just go to the county police department and fill out an application?

Where's the allegheny county department at? Or is it handled by boroughs?

Am I required to have a license before trying to purchase said gun?

Last but not least, does anyone know which dealers sell Glocks? My friend Hunter has one but I haven't asked him where he picked it up.

Im pretty sure the only place to get a carry permit is the county court house. It only takes a few minutes to fill out the paperwork and have your photo taken. A concealed permit is not required to buy a gun, just a back ground check.

It's a two step process now to obtain a permit to carry.

(1)Go to the court house fill out application and address a yellow card to yourself. The Sheriff will do all background checks which usually takes a couple of weeks. Once this is completed you receive your "yellow card"
    (2) Go back down to the court house and get your picture taken and pay. Make sure you get back down to the court house within a week of receiving your yellow card or you will have to start the process all over again!!

There were discussions of allowing people to complete step (1) via the internet but I'm not sure this has taken affect yet.

Mine was all done in a matter of a half an hour, that included the wife getting hers. We didn't have to go back.

That's how it worked for me when I initially applied and did my first renewal. But on my last renewal this summer I had to do the "2 step". I was told they changed the process to help with the increase of applications?

i just got mine, went to court house filled out application, needed a photo 1"x1"... took bout 10 minutes total in and out, but i also went in with the fayette county sheriff's son. $24/paper copy or $29/laminate copy (walletsize)

no permit is needed to buy or carry a gun unless you plan on consealing it or carring it in your car.

if you have any warrents or prior's,you will not get a gun.they call right there when your buying a gun.

check out reese's gunshop, he has a bunch of glocks and more to choose from. i got mine there. prices are reasonable. have number if ya want it.

Your half right, you don't need a permit to buy one, but you need a LTCF to carry one, and you can carry concealed or open, your choice. It's a license to carry firearms not a concealed carry permit. Also by law you cannot carry a firearm in your vehicle unless going to and from the range/gunshop/hunting etc, but this does not apply to LTCF holders.

anyone can carry a gun without permits, the law states that once it becomes hidden in anyway the a permit is required.

as long as you have your concealed licence it can be in your car (chamber unloaded) this info was straight from the penn state police.

the trooper just may have been refering to the saftey aspect of carring it loaded. when he said unchambered, we were talking bout semi-auto pistols.

I would check the law before listening to the PSP, may save you lots of BS down the road.
