    Valve Cover Redone

I posted in my upgrade thread pictures of an old "Turbo FI" Valve cover I got a hold of. I've wanted one to get that old school look, for an old school car :D The good thing about this one was that a good part of the factory paint was gone, bad part was it was full of dinks and sand scratches on the flat surfaces.

    As recieved ...

Spent a few hours masking off the rasied areas, filled the blue oval, and rattle can red wrinkle paint ...

It's untapped so that the edges can settle / bleed down, and i'm not touching it again for a bout a week to let the paint get good and hard.

Next steps will be through 2000 grit, never dull, then billet polish then clear.

    Something to do :D

    Looks great!

Tip; jam a paper towel into the baffle to keep paint out of there.

Red is faster than black, you should know that ;)

After carefull calculations, I sanded off more to get all the dings out than I added with wrinkle paint over straight color, so it's a net advantage. Also, this one has more cast in features than the solid top Merkur one I was using, so again I'm ahead :D

Yes! Going to hang out in the parking lot with the hood up instead of at the digs ... lol, nah, just something to do on a winter Saturday

Also, Car took 2nd at Carlisle last year, I figure with just a little effort (any) it might win :D

That's what is on the car now. Over the years, the clear failed in and around the letters so it's pretty ratty looking now. Once I swap them, I will sand / polish that one and have it for when I get tired of red :D

Mike has one on his Pinto, except it's in stealth mode ;)
