    Anyone into Jeeps?

Such as lifting them and off roading them while daily driving them? A friend of mine has a bunch of them and is in the need of cash and gna sell me a 98 Cherokee Sport lifted for 650 bucks. All it needs is a head gasket.. My mom had two of these and i took them both off roading but not too much.. Just seeing where i can go for some quick info to see what i would be getting myself into and whether it would be worth it or not.

Sounds like a decent deal, they have a bad habit of rusting on the floor boards by the exhaust. I cant remember if 98 is coil on plug or not yet, but if it is its more than likely a cracked head.
    we've had tons of cherokees

I had a couple Cherokee's with the 4.0 and liked them, they go about anywhere and are pretty cheap to lift. Just check rockers and floors. I got a 98 Grand Cherokee now with 2inch lift and v8 springs and I like it alot, I will definitally always have a Jeep around.

    And probably cracked head.

I don't post too often, but I saw Jeep...

I got a '00 Cherokee Sport back in September. So far, I'm running a 3" from Rough Country and 31's. I'm using it as my daily so I didn't want to go too crazy. I was impressed what it could do in stock form but, with the lift, this thing has been unstoppable. When everyone else was snowed in because our road hadn't been plowed last Sunday, I was the only one who could get in or out.

As mentioned, check the floors and rockers for rust. 2000's are the ones notorious for cracked heads. I've also heard a lot of issues with oil pressure (sometimes just a sending unit, sometimes a pump or worse). Check out Jeepforum dot com and Cherokeeforum dot com

    My two complaints:
It's J.ust E.mpty E.very P.ocket once you start working on these things and MPG's are more on par with a bigger SUV with a V8

    Here's a pic of mine....

$650 for a 4X4 is dirt cheap even needing a little motor work! If the body's in good shape I say go for it!

Here's my old Jeep, I loved that thing just couldn't justify having 4 vehicles! I had a Rough Country lift like 4bang. R/C kits are very inexpensive but are made with nice pieces which are fine for light-average offroading.

Here is mine, just v8 springs and 2inch lift with 31's. The 4.0 got 200k on it. Since the pic I trimmed the corners of the front bumber for tire clearance.
