    Compression question

Tired of asking questions on corral with no answers and when people do answer its with stupid non related comments.

I got a great deal on a SHM rotating assembly, it came with 17cc dish pistons. Im using 01 cobra heads and cams, boost is definitely in the near future but I will be running N/A for awhile. how bad is this thing going to run without boost? As far as I can tell it should be somewhere around 8.5:1 CR. Should I ditch these pistons and look for something with less dish?

If your planning on running some decent boost I would be ok with 8.5cr. You wont make as much power NA obviously.

    Thanks guys for meaningful answers.
As soon as i mentioned Sean hyland motorsport on corral somone chimed in that no one answered because of the brand.......eveything is made by manley, with arp rod bolts plus its not like they are building my motor nor did i buy the rotating assembly from them.

I found alot of great info on modular fords, I was right about my assumptions from everything i read on there
17cc should place me at 8.5:1
I still think I'd like to go with a 13cc dish and be right around 9:1

Well theres no doubt this will have a supercharger or a turbo on it. But by the time im done building the motor I'll have no cash to go out and get one. So I'll just have to deal with it being a dog for a bit

SHM just has a lot of pissed of past customers. How long do you think it would be before you add forced induction..might just wanna save your money and keep it 8.5:1

I talked to terry at street lethal, he said they ran one with 8.5:1 before it was boosted and it ran fine. I should be in under a year hopefully.

Oh it will run fine...just wont make as much power...but since you will be boosting it in the future im sure you can live with it. Enjoy the lower cost 87 octane and the few extra mpg's lol.
