LOL! That's the 4th time in the last 2 weeks that I've been asked that. :) The short answer is that we are always hiring/looking, the long answer is that there are no open positions currently in the Pittsburgh market (that's from me to Cleveland OH and down into the panhandle of WV. If you apply to my company the first thing they ask is if you are willing to relocate. Generally they will try to keep you within the region from which you are hired, but you won't necessarily be in the same branch that hires you. Our region goes from basically me to Louisville to Chicago and everything in between.

I LOVE my job and I feel I work for the best company in the industry. I'm 100% commission paid, but the fact that I've done it and continue to do it for as long as I have should tell you that its a great job and they reward hard work accordingly. Our company website is http://www.pssd.com and there is a careers link there with potential openings. Our main headquarters is in Jacksonville FL and that is where all of the marketing positions are in case any appear on the site. We have over 700 sales reps nationwide and do >$1 billion in sales annually... we are a very healthy company even in this economy because of our business model and the forward thinking top brass that we have. I sell EVERYTHING you see when you go into a doctor's office, whether he/she is a family practitioner or a specialist. We offer everything from toilet paper to ultrasounds, cosmetic lasers, and any and all Rx items you can imagine (and that includes flu vaccine which seems to make the news every year!), and we even do electronic medical records and billing solutions. Its nice to know that no matter where I go I have just about everything they could possibly need. The big difference in us is that we are more than just a medical equipment distributor. We are true sales consultants that work to find revenue generation for our offices as well as better pt outcomes and we strive to increase practice's efficiencies to the max. Its because of all of the extra stuff we do and our impeccable service model that we continue to grow at 2x's the market average and are the largest physician distributor in the country.

That sounds kind of like a sales pitch huh?

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. It takes a lot of confidence to work 100% commission, but it sounds like you're doing well at it. I'd like to get into engineering sales at some point. I think I'd like to have about a 60/40 base/commission ideally. I guess if you've been there for a while you sort of build up a "base" of repeat customers though.

I'll let you know if things ever pick back up and we hire again. We hired several Six Sigma specialists last year before the bottom fell out. I have a Six Sigma and TPM greenbelt myself.
