X2, my union seems to have their shit together for the most part. Never had any problems with them so far.

I'm not knocking unions for protecting workers... they have gone too far in politics though.
I'm friends with most of the mechanics from Cleveland brothers (Somerset) and they got told to vote for the canidate that through cap and trade would put them out of work

thats awesome! as for me, i was suppose to run 70 ton haul truck from the mine to the plant but when i got there they switched a bunch of people around and put me on the blast crew, going for my blasters licenses in october... i love the job, its dirty but it really aint bad, and all the guys are pretty cool up there... underground 10 hours a day!

I agree with the political aspect for sure. One our BA's (business agent) came out to our job on election day and was telling us how great obama was, I just looked at him and laughed. All of our ba's voted democrat because we're union.

I asked why they couldn't make up their own mind instead of doing what everyone else with power in our union was doing, he just avoided the question.

I can honestly say that doing what I do N.U would not let me have top wages, healthcare, annuity, and my pension. The union also "sets" the standard wage for the N.U workers of the same trade. Anyways, looks like you got a cool job fixing things like pictured.
