    Welding wire question

    What guage wire are you guys using for thin sheetmetal? .023?

    I've welded it with .030 fluxcore... Just have to be careful. (heat and wire speed)

    i use .035 but way too thick. .023 will help keep the warpage down.
    also if welding patch or quarterpanel. i use an air blowgun to cool the metal after weld. easier than water less mess.

    I can't remember if Lou got a mig with gas or not... .030 is the thinnest fluxcore wire.

    I picked up a 165amp 230V Mac tools mig, using 75 / 25 gas mixture.

    Everyone told me the flux core gets better penetration but is too hot for thin sheetmetal.

    Have you tried stich welding it? Starting and stopping.

    Thats the recomended method, just getting ready to start. I think im going to try the 0.023 stuff since the metal is real thin, I have the .030 solid wire already.
