A few weeks ago, a Moon Township police officer was nice enough to stop me and inform me that my window tint was illegal and that he recommends that I remove it.
I've had it on for seven years and this is the first that any officer has ever said anything to me. I wonder if other cops didn't bother with me 'cause my car looks like a cop car. I also wonder if that's the reason the Moon officer stopped me. Either way, its off now and the car just doesn't look the same.

Government vehicles are exempt from the tint laws. They still have to pass the PA safety inspection. Tint will not make you fail the inspection, unless your windshield is tinted.
Robinson PD has an unmarked Crown Vic with 35% tint all around except for the windshield. Coraopolis PD has all their windows tinted....including the windshield! And that's on their marked units. Talk about dangerous.

I got pulled over a couple years ago for tint. I just paid the fine and left it on there.

There was no fine, just a verbal. But seeing as I live in Moon and it was a Moon cop, I figured I'd better get it off. There is a good chance he'd see me again and I didn't want to stir-up trouble. If it was some town that I never drive through and I got a verbal I would just say f-it. Keep im mind, this is my daily-driver. Not a weekend cruiser.

i got a cougar with 5 percent all but windshield
got pulled over 3 times in it but never for tint cop didnt say anything about it
but it was a state boy i dont think they really waste there time on petty shit
but local guys on the other hand are tryin to be johnny law

I was pulled over once in my '94 T/A by a state cop and he gave me a warning... the car had 35%.....
My truck had 20% on it, and i was pulled over once by the Ohio Twp cops... however, the cop pulled me over b/c i had put the window down to spit my gum out the window as i passed him, and he thought i put it down so that he wouldn't see my tint.... he stopped me cuz he thought i was "insulting his intelligence"... guy told me that he didnt' care that my truck windows were tinted, and that he really liked my truck, but don't try to hide it and everything will be ok
the vette has 20% tint on it as well

I've heard the cops are starting to crack down on tint. A guy I know out of New Sewickley Twp told me the State boys have been buying a lot of tint meters from his wife's company and that they were pulling over cars on Rt. 19 in Cranberry for tint. Sort of like a DUI check-point, but for window tint. The Moon cop who pulled me over told me Moon was starting to crack down too.
The Ohio Twp cops are probably too busy on the Island with the Mexicans in the Mansionettes to worry about window tint!

It's pathetic that laws are made due to a criminal's actions that negatively affect law abiding citizens.
How about states that don't have tint laws. How many police officers die every year becuase the cars they pull over have tinted windows and the officer can't see in? If it's one, that's one too many....but I'd like to see some facts that tinted windows was a large reason the officer was killed.
Why aren't other states worried about tint laws? Do they not value the lives of their police officers?

Here's what I don't get...Trucks, vans and SUVs can have have the rear windows tinted as dark as you want. Sedans you can't. When I asked what the difference was between hiding in the back seat of an SUV or a sedan with a weapon was, the officer didn't really have a response. I don't think he really agreed with it either.

I got pulled over last year at 2:30 a.m. on halloween for window tint... but it was just an excuse to see if i was drunk.
Luckily I was DD and driving another SCS member home from southside...
He was like, "HEY OFFICER, HI, YES I'M REALLY DRUNK!".... haha..
The cop said get out of here before the throws up in my car.
