    gauge cluster question

As most of you know I'm changing a lot of stuff on my car this winter. Well since I'm getting a 4v I'd like to get rid of my v6 gauge cluster and get a 96-98 cluster. I will have a new computer and engine wiring harness but does that have anything to do with the gauges? What all would I need to change to make a cobra cluster work PROPERLY in a previous v6 car?

Also if I find a cluster is there anyway I can change the mileage to make it read the mileage on my car now?

What ever computer you get, that will determine what miles are on it(as i was told) and i was going to be using 99/01 cobra harness, computer and engine mangement and the cluster was just a bolt-in, plug-in and good to go..

I would say if you stick with your v6 cluster it will still work as its still reading the same amount of counts from the speed sensor (if your using a gear driven sensor) if you use a newer t-45 with the electronic sensor you'll need a speed cal.

the GT has a 150 mph speedo, you can open up the cluster and pop the mileage counter right out.

heres the diagram in a 96 GT, if you look at the circuit the speed sensor doesnt get intercepted by the computer (although the computer also gets a feed from the speed sensor) and goes right from the tranny to the cluster.

I didn't want to use the v6 cluster since I wanted 160mph reading and the right rpm. Would I be fine just bolting a cobra cluster in?

i would say yes, they are all reading the same amount of pulses from the same speed sensor

I have the whole wiring diagrams for that car, if you need to see them.
the plugs are definitely the same with the same pinout, i really dont see you have any issues with it at all.

im using all the wiring and computer from a 96 car and matching it to my fox gauges

That's good. I'm just going to keep my eyes open for a cobra cluster with low miles

well like i said you can pop your mileage counter out of your stock cluster and put it in the new one. its really simple to change, it just clips on.
