Thread: PRP sucks!!!

  1. #21
Hello to all. I just wanted to make a few points about PRP. I do *not* work for the track. I do, however, write the e-newsletter, so I have some information that not everyone does. I respect everyone's opinions, and all I'm asking is that you respect mine. I love to race and am there every weekend, where a bad day racing is better than a good day at work. I've met good people (Balaska347 is like a brother to me, and Ares/Ed is good people), and it's a community I like being a part of.
Test n tunes on Wednesday nights will not have a gambler's race in '07. The weekend test n tunes that start and finish the season will. I understand what people say about only getting a few runs... I'm in the same boat if I'm up there on a Weds night. In my opinion, I don't think separate nights for street cars would work.... you're splitting the car count, and wouldn't get enough on both to make it economically feasible for the track. Remember, they have to pay employees, insurance, utilities, ambulance crew, etc. Gates will open at 5:30, runs will go from 6:30-10:30. Rainouts on Wednesdays will be made up on Thursdays, schedule permitting. With no gambler's race, and with the plan to keep the program running smooth and quick, I think the number of runs should go up. Of course, the track has no control over the number of cars, and if those cars oil down, break, etc.
I'm not a fan of the stones either. I'm a big guy who doesn't go down easily. I once got hit by one in the upper staging lanes in the neck that put me down and left a very ugly angry welt. I was pretty ticked off, and also thankful it didn't hit me in the eyes, or hit a kid. All racers can make this better by checking and cleaning their tires and wheelwells. I would like to see pits like QCR or the left lane side of NRP/SEMRP, but it's not my call, or money. And, if it means the track stays open, I'll live with the stones. None of us like the unnecessarily long delays for clean ups, and have voiced that opinion to the race director and track manager. I believe this will get better.
I don't believe they play favorites, particularly in eliminations. Odd numbered lanes get the left lane, even numbered lanes get the right lane. If the lane is being pulled out back to back, first car goes left, second car goes right. The racer pulled out for the bye run always has lane choice.
I can't speak to the issue of returned phone calls or emails, as I haven't had that experience. What I can say if there's anything I can do to help, I'd be glad to try. Again, just my opinion, but I think management realizes that the racers are the customers, and they want happy customers, even though it's impossible to please 100% of the people 100% of the time. There is a lot happening for 2007, and it should be a lot of fun. I hope you all have fun too.

I just don't understand why the dumb f$cks that run this place won't realize that if they had test n tunes every night of the week, the place would still be packed and making money!

BTW Chuck to SCS. Hopefully you'll stick around for more than just posting about PRP!

With the closing of QCR, I am sure some if not most racers will come PRP...I hope they PRP thought of this?

Most of us on this board have raced at other tracks and can attest to how much smoother things run elsewhere. Clean-up is terribly long, there is really no tech( at least on T&T nights), and The general feeling you get bieng a street car is that you are a necessary evil that is there to fund the track, and not the valueable patron that you are. They know this is the only local track and no matter how bad it sucks there will still be a crowd so things won't change IMHO.

as long as there are changes in the works for '07 then more people will go back and not talk so much crap.... but why would they spend more $ to improve when it's always packed on T&T night, as long as everyone keeps going, things prolly wont get any better there.. all they see is $$$$$$$

Test n tune every night of the week Viper Ed? You must have more $$$ than me! :) And some indestructible parts! :D

Mike, PRP is definitely aware that more racers will be coming with QCR's unfortunate closing.

I've raced and seen a lot of other tracks too, and PRP is no different. Every track has their occasional clusterfudge, whether it's bad track prep, bad clean up, etc. I'm a street car too, and I know exactly what you mean about being treated like a necessary evil. However, I think that's an attitude that's changing.

I wouldn't go everynight, but there are a ton of the 16 second ricers that would be there hot lapping all week if given the chance and we all know how indestructable those stock part engines plus a coffee can exhaust tip are. Bottom line is, they would draw a crowd every night of the week if they were open.

Maybe I see the track different because I see it from a racers veiw. I'm at the track every week because I love racing and competition, and at the same time I get to play with my pony. So I do see the track making improvements. I never go on TNT days because I already now what my car runs, and I can't stand the ricers reving the *hit out of their 4 banger and dumping the clutch at 10,000 RPM and breaking an axle. If I wanted to see that I would hang out at Wal-mart in BV.

I don't think any one would care about the track if they got 10 runs. The old keystone street lane were made of dirt and rocks. Does anyone remember that. No, because everyone got 10 runs.:)

Besides what everyone else has mentioned, most of which I agree with to some extent or another, my complaint is the water box. That is, you can't go around the damn thing unless you have a bike. Not a problem with the stang... really lame when I take the WRX.

ive been going to keystone and prp and i never ever seen 10 runs unless it was a race day and went 8 rounds.never had got 10 runs on a test and tune.how about when they cancel when it rains in california or they heard its gonna rain in the next 10 days.or when they wait till its time to race and the boards or computer dont work and they keep you there and try to sell you the over priced food.they have no idea how the track should be run.they need to go to a track that is run the right way and get some pointers.if it wasnt for us racers they wouldnt need the track so i think they need to re think how they treat the racers.they talk like they dont care if you come or not.

Although the track isnt as good, i like how beaver operates on a test and tune. My friend has got upwards of 20 runs there on an all day test and tune.

Maybe they should get some pointers from beaver bob.

I cant beleive i'm defending something there, but there is a legit reason to prevent driving around the water. Ever notice where they sweep all the loose rubber (and freaking rocks)? If you drive around, you drag that crap on to the line. Lots of tracks are doing this.

Yeah, I got yelled at for that by dumbass in the waterbox that thinks he owns the place. Thats exactly what he told me, and since I was on my bike he said t drive around on the inside where there wasn't as much.

I understand that, however, other tracks have room for you to drive around and make sure the debris isn't in that area.
