I want a GT500! Is this outta line?

I was debating on selling my car, more than likely will be waiting till next year. But if I listed it ( I have no real reason to sell just want a GT500 LOL) is 16,000 out of line? Probably is but if I found the right buyer am I just being a azz asking that much? This is what I was thinking about listing...

Its a 2004 Mustang GT Convertible,5spd 60,000 miles, Kenne Bell 1.7L supercharged. Tuned by Jon Lund @ Wolfpack speed in Robinson. Rear end build with 31 spline Moser axles, 31 spline carrier with carbon clutches, 4.10 ford racing gears all new bearings. New 315-35-17 Nittos in the rear. 42lb ford racing injectors. 90mm Lighting mass air flow sensor. SVT focus fuel pump. MagnaFlow exhaust. 380 rwhp 405rwtq. Cobra top and seats. Pioneer NAV 2009 maps. Cobra radar detector. White gauges.

I think its a little pricey but I'm not the one to buy a modded car. Every car I bought has been stock. I don't like buying car that have been messed with so there for Id prob only give you 10,000. Just my opinion don't take offense to it. I bet you would have better luck parting the car out then selling the shell/body.

Good luck going for the GT500!! You will love it!

I did think about that too, I so want the GT500 I just don't know if I'm ready to take the bath in the work I did the past two years! I didn't even take it down the track yet since the new rear lol. And I totally know I will NOT get upgrade money out of my car

Here's a basic idea of what you should be asking for your car (or what you should expect to get - not sure which one)....

Take the book value of the car as if it were stock... this = A
Take the value of aftermarket PARTS you've put into the car (not labor - this is money down the drain) and multiply by (.2) ... this = B

    A+B = what you should ask/expect

Unless you get someone that really doesn't know what they're doing, and they have a shimmer in their eye, you won't get 16k for your car.... when i sold my TwinTurbo Trans Am, i ended up pretty much giving the car away... literally... the guy paid for a fully forged motor, custom twin turbo kit, Moser rear and the other mods, and got a free Trans Am with them....

sorry, not trying to be mean... but its the way it is with the market.... Another example... my Vette..... i paid about the same, if not less, for the entire car than the guy had put into mods for it.....

I would lower my sights. You will not find the right buyer in that price range. The market is in the tank, along with sn-95 cars.

Keep it then. You'll just be starting over. If you buy a stock 500 you're not gonna feel a big difference between you car and it imo.

I always say, its worth what somebody is willing to pay.

Plus anyone can buy a gt500 but not everyone is gonna have a built KB gt. Its different in its own way.

Agree 100% ... but a few small mods (pulleys, CAI and tune) can make a BIG difference.

This is a tough call even though I'm a little bias! Ether way you go you'll have a unique vehicle.

I'm not so sure i agree with the above statement that "anybody can have a GT500"....

1 thing to think about - i don't knwo what your financial situation is but.... i'm assuming that you've paid for all of your current mods and don't owe any money on them... if you sell your car, and have to finance $30K+, that's a big car payment... are you sure you want to take that on?? Plus a GT500 likely has higher insurance rates than a stock mustang GT (which is how the insurance company sees your car)... Assuming that GT500 owners are like Corvette owners, insurance rates should be relatively decent... however, i don't know if theres' enough base experience out there to set a rate with high credibility... so the rates on GT500's may be based entirely on factory HP, etc. and not what the pool's Actuarial Future Value of losses will be throughout a year on an experience basis
