    2011 Mustang - 1/4 Mile In 12.8 Seconds

2011 Mustang Roars Down The 1/4 Mile In 12.8 Seconds
A lot of us are all pumped up about the 2011 Ford Mustang, and rightfully so. With it's retro-themed 5.0, killer looks and advanced modern engine design, it's quite possibly one of the most popular developments made by Ford in the recent years. We've all been drooling over what we already know - the seemingly underrated 412hp 5.0 L mod motor, a six speed manual transmission option, among many other cool things that Ford's got brewing for this pony. One question that's been on our mind for quite some time is how fast will this 'Stang hustle down the quarter mile?

Finally, the long awaited answer to this question is here thanks to some recent testing done by Motor Trend.

    Photos By: Motor Trend.

We've heard the engine roar, seen this 'Stang unleash an amazing 395 horsepower to the wheels, and even seen a few sneak peaks at it roasting the hides out back. If what little previews we've seen here and there are any indication, this car is what the Ford crowd has been awaiting for so very long. Now, we finally get some inside news of what she does in the quarter.

Motor Trend's test car for this session was equipped with the $395 option of a 3.73 rear gear ratio, and also fitted with the Brembo brake package that'll run the consumer an additional $1695, but it does provide you with a set of massive 14" vented rotors with 4 piston calipers. Motor Trend found its stopping ability quite impressive. For what it's worth, your base 2011 GT will start off at $30,495 before any options. Ok ok, by now you're probably wondering where the heck are the 1/4 mile results?! With a smile on my face, Motor Trend reports that it made its 1/4 mile run at a stout 12.8 @ 110.8 mph. No drag radials, no aftermarket parts, just right as it rolled off the showroom floor. For what it's worth, that's a hair quicker than the supercharged 2004 SVT Cobra. Not bad for a little N/A 5.0L, now just imagine what you'd get with a few budget bolt-ons..

Love the new engine and HP numbers, but need to change the styling! 2009 is the newest I would go, but thats my personal opinion.

I thought it would be faster than that (not that a 12.8 @ 110 is slow for a stock GT)

Motor Trend isn't known for their drag racing skills...I'm sure there's more there with a good driver.

It will kick my car's ass with no problem. Not that I'm saying my car is fast or anything, and my driving isn't that great either.

Less then that I bet, more like some stickies, exhaust, and a basic tune will be 11's in no time.. Your gonna see some crazy numbers from this car once the public gets there hands on it. Motor trend is notorious for low 1/4 numbers, a good driver in stock form will easily pull low 12's out of this I bet.

These motors are going to bring a new world to tuning with the variable cam timing. Bolt on good skinnies, DR's, longtube headers, CAI & a tune and high elevens should be in reach.

I was wondering the same thing. More stock horses ( especially if the 2011 is underrated by 30+ horses as some articles are suggesting ) and normally aspirated to boot. ...and an optional 6-speed manual...
