How hard is it to get to 400rwhp NA in a 4v car?

Will take some cash. Figure a grand easy for cams. Have heads worked over for $1300 - $2000 depending on what you want to do. Lots of other stuff to just help the engine be more efficient. Well flowing exhaust and intake sytem.
Can be done yes, just not cheaply. That is the curse of the modular motor. They are evil evil motors when built. Just cost an arm and leg to do it NA. More you can do yourself the more money you can save.

im taking it would be cheaper just to put some boost to it?
Hmm tough call there. Adding boost would be the easier route. Not sure if cheaper though.

well, the blower i could help put on, but setting up cams and all the other lil things it would need, he would have to pay to put in which would add to the 1k+ price of the cams and i am thinking for the Lts, full exhaust, TB, cams, labor, porting of the heads and intake (1k+), fuel parts needed, adding all that up would probably be in the ball park of 5-6k and you could get a KB 2.1 for around that price
Bringing thread up from the dead, but it was interesting to me, so what the hell. Another thing to remember is how painful it is to drive a small cube NA motor on the street. If you are making 400 at the wheels from 281 ci, it's going to be completely gutless below 5K or so. Just saying seeing my current combo makes similar rwhp (350ish) NA as my last blower stock long block combo did and just went 3.5 seconds slower at the same hillclimb. Wouldn't make much difference at the strip though.

I recently picked up some 4v heads with cams already assembled including timing assembly and TB+ icm's or w/e those are called cant remember for 400 even. Was a steal. But yeah the setup for that would be a pain seeing as i currently have to buy new head bolts and all the small misc stuff to go with it, not to mention a tune. Throwing this all on my 2v modular eventually btw.
Turbo 4v's are where it's at. Nothing weak about them down low and hold on tight up high.
One day I'll own a turboed 4v!
mmmm twin screws lol tons a work but sooo worth it, I gotta a thing for KB's tho the whine gets me every time so im prob going to put a blower on mine here eventually.
