    Sn-95 Cheap build

    Hey guys,

Let me start off by saying im not new to the board. im formally Jeep n Stang, my account wouldnt work and I contacted admin. and decided to start fresh.

So, alittle catch up on whats been happening. After driving the Stang for almost a year ive decided I would like to start to build it up alittle and make it more "mine" without breaking bank doing so. I just want to do small things, im not looking to run the quarter mile or race it, just have a fun time driving it around and appricate the beauty of the car.

As it sits its bone stock.

    Here are my plans,

I would like to keep the V6 (I know) but swap out the auto for a manual. I bought awhile back off a user on here cobra wheels but cant afford tires, so id like to make that second on the list. Same story, I bought dual Mac exsaust off a user on here, but it was for a V8. I found a "adapter" but once agian have not had the money to buy it and finally put it on.

Currenty, I am prepping the hood to paint. The paint and clear coat was gone and flakey but lucky its only the hood not the fenders or anywhere else on the Stang. This weekend me and my father are wet sanding it and primering it so we can shoot paint hopefully the weekend after.

As for engine, I know the internals are good. i bought it with both blown head gaskets and me and my dad took are time tearing it down and making sure it was better than stock when we were done. Id like to do simple bolt ons under the hood. I dont have the time or means to do a strocker to the V6 or that would be on the list and off the plan (just a tad).

So I figure I will update this thread with pitures and question as I go along.

My first question is does anyone know anyone or anywhere selling a cheap but working manual with everything, flywheel, drive shaft, pedals ect.

    Thanks guys!

I really don't know. Although my cobra with stock springs was baja ready so you may need to cut them if you wanna go low. Hard to say for sure though..

    Update:

Not sure if anyone is following this thread but here it is.

Due to the weird weather I have been putting off the hood until we get a nice weekend. I added some lights to the Stang a week or so ago.

This might be a dumb question but here it goes. I have been thinking about lowering i alittle bit this summer. I come from the world of Jeeps and leaf springs. If I just cut the coils evenly and without heat (grinder) would I have to change the control arms ect or does this poor mans lowering not work at all?

Im also still on the hunt for a cheap 5 speed for it. From the reading I have done it looks like I would need to find a T-5, correct?

    Thanks,

    Pictures soon!

Very good project to start with. I have a bunch of v6 parts. I do have the dash clock you were talking about. V8 spring will make your car sit higher but if you are ever interested I have 94-98 v6 eibach pro kit spring. I just sold my T5. I also have a 97 v6 white face gauge cluster. Not sure if it will work.

Also I have a strut bar 3 point, gray steering wheel, upper and lower intakes(good for porting) and many more things

We are going to start the hood soon, got the paint and gun. I primed the hood then it hailed yesterday, lucky I haven't started sanding it yet. We have some cool plans for it but I will wait it is done to post pictures and not let the cat out of the bag. I still want to go 5 speed but I am not thinking about just giving the V6 some balls and possible force feed it. Also I want to drop it about an inch, just going to cut the stock coils carefully. Other than that I am happy with it, maybe just some small things like tint the quarter windows and possible Le Mans Stripes in Black.

I have till school starts again in the Fall, so the next few months I got to get it done.

A relatively cheap but useful mod to complement your exhaust would be to do the split port swap either from a 99-04 v6 stang or with a windstar. The windstar plastic upper appears to flow better than the upper from the stang and would probably improve the breathing a little more than the stang upper. The only downside to the windstar is that you need to either buy an adapter to angle the pipe down to get it to fit, or you'll need a different hood than your stocker.

A couple of years ago when I was going to do the split port swap I was able to get 90% of the parts (heads, lower, upper, brackets) from a u-pull it place for less than $100.00 if memory serves. Might be worth researching on the v6-specific boards.

And of course, an SCT handheld wouldn't be a bad idea either
