Thanks, that's not a bad idea I will start looking into it. The only thing I know for sure right now is I want a 5 speed. I think it would be easier on me to mod the 6 than swap a whole engine right now.

As for the hood, after I am done with it I could fit it.

What u-pull it did you go to get your parts. Sounds like you didnt do the swap? Do you still have the parts?

    thanks

    I don't have the parts anymore. I had a 94-98 v6 i was fitting into a fox before a job change/move nixed those plans.

You don't have to swap the whole engine. The only parts you need are the heads, lower, and upper from whatever donor you have (either a 99-04 v6 or the windstar split port). If you use a 99-04 donor, you also need a few brackets for the coil pack and TB cable. If you use the windstar you will need to fabricate a bracket and cable. Its pretty much a bolt-in procedure with a mustang donor and just a touch of simple fabrication for a windstar donor.

The u-pull it place I went to was north of allentown, pa (harry's upull it at www.wegotused.com). I was living on the east side of PA at the time so it was more convenient for me and the windstar swaps were plentiful there.

Thanks for the insight. I am thinking about doing the swap, I like how it cleans up under the hood as well.

    Few questions.

Im wanting to get some rubber mounted on my Cobra wheels but im not to sure what size tire(s) to go with.

Here a picture of them I found online of them.

    *******not my Stang*********

Also, as I stated earlier in the thread I want to lower it but on the cheap. I'm convinced I can just cut the old coils on there now. My dad and co mechanic thinks I should just buy a lower kit but I don't have the money to do so. I think I can just cut them with the air grinder, any suggestions? Also how much should I hack off, to achive about a 1" lower.

Well when I say this is a "cheap build" I wasnt blowing smoke. Did the antenna mod after reading Steeltownstangs awesome write up.

Im starting to sand the hood and prep it for paint this week as you can see from the picture. Advice, I have alot of experence with fiber glassing and I have been throwing around the idea of a scoop then paint the whole hood. But I dont want it to look stupid. I was thinking ethier doing a scoop right at the nose when the most air would be or getting this:

    http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-471500/?rtype=10

then cutting it down the middle and and mold it to fit length wise. Then molding it into the hood and at the nose so it doesnt look "placed on". Then cutting holes or something along those lines for air flow.

    or

Just paint the hood as is and be unhappy with in my opinion an unfinished look. Keeping in mind I am going to do a 5.0 or 4.6 manual swap next summer do I want a sleeper look or not.

Any suggestions, tips or comments are welcome.

I'm pretty sure I remember cutting one coil off, which will make the springs stiffer. But nowadays, you can literally find lowering coils laying around, although any that are actually stiff enough are hard to find. I have 1000's up front and they are way too soft.

Thanks for the input, I actually decided today to leave the Stang the way it is and sell it. I am going to paint the hood and call it done. Ive been seeing some deals online for 99 GT that I would love to have. Buying a V8 5 speed will be alot easier then swapping one in ect. Plus I like the 1999 body style. Hopefully I can sell the Stang I have now for one and the Jeep, but that's just wishful thinking.

I haven't looked at it, but I have a feeling that one in washington (99GT) is pretty beat.....however for the money it's hard to pass up if it really is in good mechanical shape like the poster claims.

Well i spent the day wet sanding, primeing and painting the hood. Got a few spots after 3 coats of color and wet sand I have to figure out tomarow. Its nice to have a red hood again thought. If I can get those bubbles out I can shoot clear, if I cant I might do a black le mans stripe to it to cover up some of the small spots.

Never thought about painting it black. I would plasti dip it that way if you don't like it you can peel it off. It would go well with all the black accents you have. Go to home depot ask for plasti dip in the paint section. Trust me. You won't be disappointed! I think it would look awesome on your car with plasti dip! w00t!

Plasti dip is the stuff you would paint your pliers handles with. A lot of vw guys use that stuff. I ended up plastidipping my rear bumper (just the bottom where the line is at) to give it that textured black look like the 03 cobras.
