My 03 cobra now with SRA

Well over winter I ditched the irs in favor of a solid axle.

First i will start out with saying I didnt get any progress pics since it was me and one buddy thrashing on his car and mine so there wasnt picture time. The car is a true 2003 torch red 10anniv. car. Nothing like drilling holes, cutting and welding on a car that is 1 of 200 and some cars lol.

The solid came out of a 2004 GT, once home it was cleaned and takin apart, The tubes where then welded.

    Parts list.

Moser 33 spline axles with c-clip elims and 3 inch studs.
    Moser spool.
    Ford racing 3.73 gears.
Ford racing diff cover with stud kit.
    TRZ spherical housing bushings.
UMI lift bar lower control arms.
UMI double adjustable on car upper control arms with rod ends.
    Lakewood 50/50 rear shocks.
    Stock GT springs.
Stock GT swat bar painted and modified to work with the lower control arms.
    UMI grade 8 hardware kit.
UMI upper and lower TQ box reinforcement plates, Bolted in but will also be welded before the car sees harsh driving.
    BMR drive shaft safety loop.

The car also had the backseat removed and a MMR rear seat delete put in, As well as all under coating and sound deadiner removed from the trunk and under the rear seat area. Also installed the N2MB 2 step. And to finish it off for a new exhaust I went with a SLP LM1.

The car really doesnt see much driving. But when it does this is how it looks.

Very sweet Cobra. How was the install on the N2MB? I think that it will be the next purchase for the Cobra.

The install wasnt bad at all. I seen alot of people have trouble installing them, But if you read the directions, And make sure you solder and heatshrink all the connections there shouldnt be any issues.

The car is still pretty heavy so my goals arent gonna be to crazy. I would like to be able to drive it to the track have it run mid 10s and drive it home.

I still gotta finish up a few small details on the car then would like to hit a track rental with it, That way I can make a few easy shake down passes with it and see how its gonna leave with the 2 step.

Looks sick! Pretty much the same setup I'm going with. Do you drive this car on the street? How much of a PITA is the spool for normal driving?

Yeah I drive it on the street nate. The only time I even notice the spool is at low speeds when trying to turn. Then its kinda not real fun but other then that its not to bad.

It drives alot better then i really thought it was going to. I am sure I will even make the two hour drive out to irwin a few times this year with it. As long as there is zero chance of rain lol

Alright cool, that doesn't sound too bad. I am trying to decide if I should get the Strange axle, spool, and c-clip eliminator package or save a couple hundred bucks and use a Terminator diff and 31 spline c-clip axles.

I know what you are goin through nate. But atleast in my situation I felt alot safer going with non c-clip stuff. If you got the extra money then I would go all out with it, That way when you start racing it and stuff like that you dont have to worry about it

the SRA swap was pretty easy to do on the car. the N2MB box kinda sucked to install, but that was due to where some of the wires are located. as for a spool in a street car, you only really notice it when making sharp, low speed turns. i also run a spool in my car & have driven it everywhere without any issues. with the power some of you guys are making, there seems to be about 2 reliable options: spool or detroit locker. i personally wouldnt recommend a locker to my worst enemy, as they are noisy, jerky & you notice them a lot even on a mild curve.

anyway, glad you decided to go SRA on your car. now get some miles on it, so we can hit the track already! lol
