I only go to test and tune so they just seem to want you to have "A" helmet

Is your safety/life only worth $69.99? If so, enjoy that helmet regardless of what you plan to use it for. You probably could have got a better deal on a Impact helmet since they at least went to the trouble of printing false documents to make one belief there stuff was up to snuff.

Hahaha... good point . Lets face it, 99% of us aren't wearing the helmet cause we want to. Maybe if I were going 9's or something I might, but I'm not. I usually don't wear mine until someone there yells at me telling me to do so. Even then I don't wear it on the last pass

thats what i said when i paid 400 bucks for my helmet and looking at an icon that is 515.. You get what you pay for...
If you go to a real track or PRP gets serious about their track and start enforcing safety rules your going to have to get a new helmet. My hero Adam had to buy a new helmet out at National Trail raceway cause it wasnt snell approved
If PRP really pushed tech to the "T" most of the junk out there couldn't run. Most the these cobra's aren't close to being track legal, atleast the fast ones (10's). And if they started really pushing it people would be bitching because they can't run and wouldnt come back. PRP actually does a good job teching when the car is actually fast and needs to be looked at (cars that dont run the factory setup). Really what is there to check on a factory street car.
Bob, I'm thinking the helmet is probably Snell rated M. I believe that is ok for use in cars. Personally, I'm glad chargin2004GT stepped up and bought the new helmet. I am amazed that people take the attitude of "I don't need one" even though they're clipping off good elapsed times. It doesn't take much to lose control of a car, and no matter how well you go over your car to make sure it's safe, mechanical failures can happen at any time. Plus, there's always the car in the other lane, if it gets out of shape and into your lane. It's plain old stupid to not prepare for what could happen. Just my 2 cents, end rant.
I went for the Impact full face SA rated helmet last year, and I love it. It was about $370, and I feel it was worth every penny. I have no fear about the spat that Impact and SFI are having.... 1) it doesn't include the helmets, and 2) it's a high quality helmet. I've been around long enough to know the difference in quality.
The Snell website is good reading. Remember, if you have a 5 cent head, then get a 5 cent helmet.

then why even have rules? im am pretty sure a lawsuit could be pressed if a car wrecked (10sec) and it didnt have a cage in it, they passed it being certified to race, and the driver was killed due to the rules stating that in that time elapse a car should have a cage in it .. Not sure if PRP follows under the same rules as the tracks that have the NMRA/NMCA/IHRA events at, but thats what i was told by one of the techs at the NMRA race.

I'd make sure there is a Snell sticker behind the inside lining of the helmet... NHRA/IHRA rules require a Snell M rated helmet for anything under 13.99. DOT only does not pass tech for any drag/autox event.

sounds like it is only ECE-22-05 certified which the article above slams. I would return it and find a Snell rated helmet.

You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot force it to drink. I can assure you that making a choice on safety equipment on looks is not a logical decision. However, my vanity is less than my intelligent choices on this type of equipment. Forest Gump had a great line on this type of subjects.....
