Move the hwk rental to pittsburgh?

Hey guys we are getting tired of Quaker city always raising the rates and stuff at our track rental. We usually get about 125 racers for our Hollywood Knights rental. I suggested tonight we would seek other tracks for next years rental. Do you guys think PRP would be a good place? I thought it would since we get so many guys from that area.

Not really a fan of Quaker.

Rumor has it, the last couple hundred (maybe less) feet of track is uphill. At least thats what all the guys that run at PRP say. :)

Unless PRP revised their track rental policy with the new management they want $100/car no matter how many attend and they will only run single lane.

We rented Norwalk once, too expensive and believe it or not maybe 10 cars showed. Plus Norwalk no longer has track rentals as of last year. Any other suggestions? Would you guys come to Thompson, it's a really good track

    I was...

...at QC when I was like 10. I actually wouldn't mid goin their and runnin and racing here very soon in the near future. I know the burnout area is up hill. I voted for PRP and been supporting it for the last few years quite regularly, I actually can't ever get enough of it. I think it has tons of potential for alot of good events/racin/runz and can only grow into a decent national/international track.

Quaker has always had that rumor. Not sure how true it is, but my mph is higher at EVERY single track including Dragway 42, PRP, Thompson, etc. We get a ton of guys from PA at our rental and really appreciate it. This is why I'm asking for your guys' input because so many from this board alone go to this. It's at QCR this year no matter what, we already gave the deposit and are on there web page as well. Please spread the word and maybe Lou can make my earlier post from a couple months ago a sticky???

No rumor about it ... This is a picture of my buddies TR7 after the Camaro tried to head him off at the pass at the spring UMTR race there. The camaro is at half track, you can see it REALLY starts up hill at the 1000' block, and you can see the change at the 1/4 MPH block and finish line ...

I voted for PRP. I only have the 1/8 mile Steel Valley to compare it to though. After running 1/4 mile, I would find it tough to go back. Plus PRP is closer for me.

Quaker is about a .08-.10 and 1-1.5mph slower for me in the 1/4.

I would encourage you to contact PRP track manager Greg Miller at miller@pittsburghracewaypark.com or call the track at 724-668-6800. I don't know what the options are (1 lane, 2 lanes, track prep, etc) or pricing. He may be able to come up with something that works well for you. Give PRP a chance.

If you do look into PRP make sure they do not still have the "fine" for oil-downs built into the contract. They used to charge a specific amount I believe per foot if you oiled down the track. i think they offered an insurance against it but it was crazy expensive. It was the most asinine thing I had ever heard of and I know of at least track rental days that were scrapped because of it. IMO that is part of racing and no matter how much planning you do mechanical failures can happen, I don't believe you should be penalized for it. Maybe Greg has different rules now, but just be warned that this used to be the case.

About 3 years ago I went to a track rental with a few buddys at PRP. aint sure on all the details but i do know it was 1000 to rent it.

At that time the allowed us to run two lanes though, Only thing really was they didnt have much track crew there, So they said if you do start to oil down the track try to get in the grass ASAP, Cause being that they only had a few people there clean-up would take longer and cut into the rental time.
