    Adding a Roll Cage

Yesterday, I dropped my best girl Shelby off at Piper Motorsport in Sterling, VA for a removable 6 point roll cage.
Amtrak'd it back and will return Thursday to get her.
I am looking forward to being allowed on a track for some road courses!

Nice! It looks well contoured to the light bar. I don't know the rules that govern road race bars other than I know they are different than NHRA accepted drag bars.

That looks awesome! They did a really good job. If you don't mind me asking, how much did they charge? I'd like to get a 6pt done in my car car and yours looks just like what I want. You can PM if you want.

Thanks, Paul. My husband loves light bars, so he got that, and I get the funner part - track time. I do not know much about NHRA accepted bars, but I just want to do some lapping. This conforms to general rules at for that at tracks.

Nate - Piper Motorsport in Sterling, VA. They do cage work almost exclusively, and have done a lot of GT500s. Mine was 2700 (plus the trip), but there are options you may want that I did not, and vise versa.

It is fully custom and removable. Since this is my DD, I need the back seat. It is going to have to come out soon - 20 bolts, 30 minutes, 2 people (2 people for balance, not weight - it weighs 75 pounds).

In the meantime, I am enjoying the improved handling on some lovely WV twisties.

DO you have a picture of how the bar is formed around the seats?

I can take whatever picture you'd like.
Do you mean the back seat? Or the main hoop behind the front seats? Or the door bars? I don't think these are what you mean, so tell me what spot and I'll take the pictures to put them up tomorrow.

This is the back floor behind the passenger seat:

A better view of the clevis mount on the door bar:

I am curious how the door bars fit around the seats.

Cage looks nice, but those door bars scare me to death. Why even have them in the car if they have bends in them and are removable? And for 2700 for a bolt-in bar, why not just pay 900 or so for an autopower which it looks to be copied from anyway.

looks real good. the removable door bars are ok. some of the strength goes away, but its nice to be able to get in the car easily too.

    Mark,
Cage work is their specialty, not mine. I can't do the work myself, so I'd have had how much in someone else's shop time, plus paint, so that 900 would have gone up quickly.
I do not intend to do any racing of any kind, just lapping and road courses and I need to have the "adequate rollover protection" that tracks specify.

The door bars are not swing out. Getting in isn't too bad. Getting out is a bit entertaining, especially with the top closed.

I'm sorry for coming off like a dick about the cage, I reread my post and saw how it could be interpreted that way. Nice work, hope to see you out on track!

I didn't read like that - thanks for the input - you have a experience and knowledge that I do not.
