    Thumbs up problems with idle

Looking for any suggestions. Just had a new motor put in my 86' fox. bored 060. over, f-cam, GT-40 heads and intake, mac headers and exhaust, converted from speed density to mass air. At low rpm's with clutch pushed in sometimes will stall and idle is kind of erratic. Also on start up will sputer, when driving in first gear. any heip would be great. Thanks

If I remember correctly it is suggested you up your idle rpm with an F cam.
Here is the proper procedure for doing that. Follow the instructions as they are written, no shortcuts.

The F cam is the root of your evil. With no tune its going to idle all messed up. Even doing the idle re-learn, it might help a bit but not going to solve your problems. I had a TFS-1 cam which is very similar in my old combo a few years ago. I went through all the headaches trying to get it to idle and not stall and buck as you say. I drilled a 1/8" hole in the TB and everything. It helped a bit but still was never right. Get it tuned and the problems will go away.

when you did the mass air conversion, did you change the map sensor? or atleast plug yours? with speed density there is a vacuum line that comes off it but mass air its not there.

also agree with the F-cam deal.. my buddy went with fcam and we had to fine tune it cause it sounded like it was gonna shut down.

It will run much better once you get the car tuned, but it will never be perfect...

do a base idle reset like frankstang showed you above. Also make sure your timing is good and check the TPS voltage. I had similar problems with my B cam when i first got my car running and the base idle reset helped a lot.
