Question FLYWHEEL RUBBING BLOCK PLATE? Whats it mean?

My flywheel keeps rubbing my block plates. Initially i thought my blockplate got bent when i tore the old motor down. But i put a nice new custom block plate in there, and i just had to replace my clutch, and now it's rubbed up too... i'm not sure if it's the 28oz flywheel rubbing this thing up or what. I have a FMS flywheel. The new blockplate is bowed now too a little bit. What could be the cause of this? This is a basically new motor. Thanks for the help.

Check your crankshaft end play, maybe somethings up with your crankshaft thrust bearing?

here's the pic, as you can see on the one it's beat up from me trying to flatten it back out which failed miserably... but here's the pic.

Put a dial indicator on the crank flange and see if it's bent.

Check crank end play as already noted.

Do you have to force or load the block plate at all to get bolt holes to line up, maybe causing the plate to slightly bow outward?

How much clearance is there between the plate and back of the flywheel if you were to bolt the plate to the back of the block.

(I'm grasping here but this seems like an odd issue)

Any vibrations? Positive the flywheel is flush on the crank? Is it a constant scrape or like a chattering scrape?

If its only rubbing on one side the plate is bowing when you install the trans. Try bending it back straight then grind or drill the bolt and dowl holes a little bigger. If it still rubs after trans is installed try to pry on the plate in different areas until it quits rubbing. I've had this happen a few times on different vehicles and prying on it usually works.

i have a couple plates like this, seriously i think it just gets bowed. but how thick is that fab piece? i pre-bent my latest one so it flattens out toward the block when the trans goes up... meh, my 2¢ :P

it's not very thick. I didn't have this problem until i got the 28oz flywheel and motor combo. Not sure if it's the flywheel causing it or what. I Might just cut the circle out bigger out of the way of where it's rubbing and say to hell with it.
