    Street class at PRP

Just a heads up for anyone running points, or considering it, in Trophy or Street this year at PRP. Dean Pollock is once again sponsoring a year end run off for a complete, carb to pan, 400hp small block Chevy. No need to say eeewwww Chevy... if you win it, it's yours to do with whatever you please, including selling it. Dean is a great guy who would help anyone out if he could. Here is his message on the PRP site:

A word from Dean Pollock of Dean's Racing Engines, who sponsors our year end runoff for Street class:

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all our street racers to another year of fun filled activities, and to extend my thanks and appreciation to last years participants who signed up to race in the points series. It is my sincere hope that we get a nice group together this year. As a co-sponsor for the Street class, I will be putting up another complete turnkey small block Chevy engine, for the end of year runoff. The top 16 points participants will have a runoff for the engine. For the racers in trophy, and even all you casual racers, please step up and join the points series in street class, and also have the opportunity to be a participant in the bracket finals at the end of the year. It is a great way to improve your driving skills, and be in a competitive environment.
I have made many new friends at Pittsburgh Raceway Park, and hope to make many more. I also offer any help to any racer who has questions about anything. Pictured is the 2008 winner of the Chevy engine, Joey Pinsky, and last years winner, Art Armstrong. Congratulations go out to them again, and I would like to see a new face , in the winners circle this year. Many thanks to all of you who participated, and I hope we have a banner year in 2010.

Cobra II, it looks like the Street Class is gone from PRP? Has it been replaced by "NAPA Trophy Class"?

I ask because a few friends of mine are planning on heading out and trying some bracket racing on Saturday, July 10 in our street cars (we will be driving to the track) and we'd planned on running "street class", but it's gone from their web site.

Im not sure where you were looking but if you go under Track info and then entries and payouts you'll see this.

Aamco of Lower Burrell Street (12.00 and slower, footbrake only, slicks [must have driveshaft loop] and open headers allowed): Entry Fee $30, Re-Entry is $15, Winner $350, R/U $150, $15 Rd Money after 2nd Round Win

Cool- not sure how I missed it- thanks!

Would you guys recommend the "Aamco of Lower Burrell Street" class or the "NAPA Trophy Class" for mild, daily driven, high 12-second street cars?

It depends on a few factors.... if you guys are familiar with bracket racing, and what you need to do at both ends of the track to be competitive, and want to take a shot at winning some cash, then Street would be the class. Street also offers reentry (provided the weather isn't influencing the program), where Round 1 runners-up can buy in, and take another shot at advancing to Round 2 (reentry round winners are put back into Round 2). Trophy is a beginner's class (there is absolutely no shame in being a beginner... everyone was once), a little less on the entry, runs for trophies only (no cash), is a little more restrictive (must have DOT's and exhaust, while Street allows slicks and open headers), and there is no reentry. You get 2 time trials (provided you make it to the track in time for them), and 1 round of eliminations guaranteed for your entry fee, regardless of the class you choose.

Run order, starting at 3pm, is Top, Bike, Modified, Juniors (if any rounds remain), Street, Trophy. That order is followed throughout the race day.

Hope that helps, ask away if you have any questions. I'm the the '69 Cutlass in Street, stop by whichever class you're in.

Thanks for the information- very helpful. We are bracket racing noobs, so it sounds like Trophy is the right class for us. Only one or two of us have bracket raced period (Street class at QCR).

What time do time trials start? I'd saw that the track opens at 11AM on the 10th and that's when we planned on meeting there.

    Thanks again!

Is Trophy in the run off for this this year?

Like Mikey said, gates open at 11am, and TCR runs in its entirey at noon, followed by juniors, with the big cars time trials starting at 3. Run order is in my post above.

If you want to get there early still, and like bbq, treat yourselves... go to Clem's BBQ in Blairsville, about 5-6 miles past the track on 22. Yum!!!

We have a thread here in the Drag Racing section about How to Bracket Race, if you want to check that out. Also check out www.staginglight.com for the intro to bracket racing section, lots of good info. And fire away with questions, lots of guys are willing to help answer them.

One more thing about Trophy... you have to dial to the tenth, were the other classes dial to the hundreth. So if you're running 12.91-.93, ok, easy enough to dial 12.90. But if you're running 12.97-98, you would be putting yourself in a hole by dialing 12.90. If you dial 13.00, just remember you're holding a couple hundreths, and you'd need to scrub them off so you don't run under.

I don't think it is. The first sentence in your previous post makes it seem Trophy is included in the run off. I just don't want anyone getting confused.
